Propaganda implies attempt to mislead. Undermining of democratically elected Ukrainian authority by coup d état of the west, financed as Vicky Nuland boasted with over $5 billion of US taxpayer dollars resulting political, economic and military inflicting outrageous humanitarian mayhem on civilians in the dead of bitter winter is historical fact, not propaganda.
Throughout this interview I’m barely restraining interpreting Luke’s comments as mere intelligence spin. Difficult to bear from this source.
Agreed. To gain credibility Luke should research matters more thoroughly before sounding off.

I haven’t really fleshed this out completely, but I will throw it out just for the hell of it. We DO NOT need a revolution, we need an evolution.

When most people think of revolution, they consider the first definition listed there, “an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed.”
And yet, how long after the revolution do conditions fall right back into the way they were before? In Ukraine? Arab Spring Egypt? Soviet Russia? Hell even in the USA, how long after the American Revolution before conditions reverted? 200+ years? I think most here can see that the US is slowly creeping toward something authoritarian, if we aren’t already there (and that is being generous and skipping over a great deal of the country’s early history.)
Which is why I am beginning to feel that revolutions bear out more closely to the fourth definition, “a procedure or course, as if in a circuit, back to a starting point.” Which simply means that no matter where the course takes you, when the revolution is complete, you wind up right back where you started.
edit: and of course I don’t mean an evolution in the darwinist/eugenics sense. Only as a growth or development out of whatever this system, instinct, or tendency that keeps us making the same mistakes over and over again.

Hi James, Thanks for this since Ukraine is a vital topic right now and one that, as Luke mentions, could easily lead to a major conflagration. At the same time, I tend to agree with the first comment, Ralphodavis, that Luke does little to dispel the massive confusion that hangs over this topic. I got an email header this week saying something to the effect of “US Prepares for War in Lithuania” — and was stunned until I saw that it was proffered by the Journal of Foreign Affairs. The U.S. State Department should be renamed the “War Department.” You mention that the oligarchs have been at work on both sides but my reading of this sad situation is that Putin has tried to put the oligarchs, at least the pro-Russian ones, out of business. I try to keep this in perspective but there are several things that make me lean toward allying with the Russian case. Ukraine is on their border. What business do we have there? The MH17 affair was shameless. The propaganda that was released within 24 hours of that event made it appear/made it clear!! that NATO and the US neocons had their names written all over this cruel and ruthless destruction of another Malaysia airliner — and it’s hard not to wonder if the American-Israeli alliance wasn’t behind it as retaliation for investigations into the truth of 9/11. Lastly, letting Monsanto into Ukraine is dangerous not just to Ukraine but to everyone on this planet.

The complexity of the economic factors at work in Russia makes short summaries impossible, but Nemtsov appears to have been an oligarch who would have had the support of our neocons. This heightens the suspicion that his murder might have been an act of foreign intervention, a false flag aimed at Putin, since the latter’s wiliness is surely a thorn in the side of the club-footed neocons running the US State Department.
Another interview with Buzgalin from last summer suggests that Russian food convoys to aide the people of East Ukraine were falsely charged by the foreign press with carrying weapons; at the same time, it seems that aide from countries hostile to Russia was stopped, possibly with the same concerns in mind. What we do know is there is a lot of lying going on re the situation in Ukraine.
At least it seems at a standstill, at least for us,the complete spectator like at a hockey game not for the regular eastern ukrainian who wanted nothing of this.
Couldn’t be as easy as with Crimea where it was basically Russia and they had naval bases there. Like the real reason Syria wasn’t bombed is the Russian docking rights in Syria. I’m afraid to say that Russia (which is not a dictatorship) is the only lever pushing against neo-imperalism. Let them face defeat like everyone who knocked at Russia’s door, and of course we know the US only attacks countries without nukes…
