The P2P Economy Goes Mainstream

04/29/20151 Comment

As we highlighted in a recent podcast, the peer-to-peer economy is transforming us from a society of middlemen (factories, distributors, corporations) into a society of independent producers capable of interacting directly with customers and like-minded communities. But now the P2P economy is being acknowledged by the mainstream as they attempt to play catch up on an idea that is threatening to topple the old system of control.

    Hi James,

Thanks for this… I’m slowly coming on board as a few years ago I was still into the Thom Hartmann model believing that a strong government was necessary to save us. I’ve clambered on board your ship — and want to say apropos of this podcast that I saw a Brasscheck podcast several days ago titled, I believe, Punished for Daring to Share… I went back today to try to verify and it seems that the PTB have gotten there first. I kept getting an error message.

Here is the gist of what I saw: Young people in Brooklyn dining out in a neighbor’s house (instead of a restaurant) — and then the “proprietors” being hassled about licensing, sanitary laws, etc. Young college student with car pasting a fluffy pink mustache on the front bumper to announce that she is open for business and the same thing: The PTB moving in to supposedly protect the “real” cab drivers.

I do believe that Determination will win out. Also because the government has become so degraded, people are falling off the wagon right and left. In the long run, Good people will prevail because we are in the majority, but it won’t be easy.

Lastly, I’m seeing podcasts now on the evils that proliferate from patents (think Bill Gates, Monsanto as the originating bad seeds). The patent industry must necessarily be in the sights of everyone who wants to move to a different model… because there are so-called patent trolls out there. The next thing to come down the pike will be lawsuits against pink mustaches because someone somewhere came up with that idea first. The capitalist world is imploding and spewing all sorts of sick stuff out there as it disintegrates.

    THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!
