The BRICS Summit: What You Need to Know

The leaders of the so-called “BRICS” nations converged on Xiamen in Southeast China this week to convene the Ninth BRICS Summit, the annual get-together for the association. And to the surprise of absolutely no one, the event kicked off with a joint declaration full of the usual mealymouthed diplomatic gobbledygook that was immediately hailed by the members’ state-run media mouthpieces as the start of the group’s second “golden decade” and (say it with me) “paving the way for a new world order.”

Yay.

But, buried in among all the feelgood diplobabble were a few nuggets of significance, as predictably indigestible as those nuggets may be.

Like the BRICS’ reaffirmation of commitment to the UN and their “sustainable development” scam, Agenda 21/2030:

And their resolve to foster a “global economic governance architecture,” complete with an obligatory curtsy to their IMF/World Bank masters:

And their genuflection to the World Trade Organization:

Barf.

But, like it or not, the summit did generate some actual news worthy of scrutiny, so in the interest of keeping you informed, here are the most important stories to emerge from this year’s BRICS Summit…

      I swear, James Corbett is a hell of a writer. That pen glides.

      If we lived in a real world, not a “fake world”, we would see his articles on the front pages of Yahoo or AOL or The New York Times or Bloomberg. It would boost their readership like mad.

      Of course, we live in a “fake world”. So, the thought of such is like imagining dog vomit.

    FED, ECB, BRICS and BIS are different names for the same kind of monetary system and all are invented by the members of the Globkaki (global kakistocracy) and the members of the globkaki also fight with each other due to that power corrupts, which also happened in the past with all the wars between the European inbred monarchies… But until today the history still repeats itself, due to the fact that humanity make always the same catastrophic choices on how to create a new society…….

    Really I don’t need somebody above me or a (mikkie’s) wikipedia supervisor who tells and mandate my person how to act and live. A few months ago at my work a unit manager said to me that he was my boss and I replied to him, I have NO bosses because I am not a dog, only pets have bosses.. He did not like my remark when I saw the expression on his face, but he also didn’t say anything anymore… This person is also a descendant of African slaves and I wanted to make a remark on masters and slavery, but I didn’t express vocabulary these thoughts of mine towards him.     Thanks for this insightful analysis, as always. It’s amusing watching the U.S. – known for its brand of “Democracy” internationalism in the 20th-century – morph into an inwardness and self-infatuation with its own “indispensability” that it still feels it possesses. It’s lost its luster and “image” more than ever. And it’s as if, right on cue, the powers that shouldn’t be are simply restructuring, rebranding and marketing their globalist agenda anew. Unfortunately, too many who still succumb to the left-right paradigm, will also succumb to this false dialectic.

      I just happened to notice this, but it appears that Wang Yi has tried to assuage Pakistan’s concerns regarding the statements asserted at the Xiamen summit.

      Mr. Wang embarked on a post-BRICS balancing act when he praised Pakistan as Beijing’s “good brother and iron friend”.

      “For years, Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism. More importantly, Pakistan is an important participant in the international cooperation against terrorism.”

      He added: “When it comes to the issue of counter-terrorism, Pakistan has done its best with a clear conscience. In comparison, some countries need to give Pakistan the full credit that it deserves.”

    Question for Corbett: B.R.I.C.S = Brazil. Russia. India. China. South Africa. Even though the BRICS may wrongfully be viewed by some as opposition to the IMF, the fact is that these countries are actually cooperating together right?

    Therefore, can’t we assume that since these countries are indeed working together (either with or without the IMF and World Bank), then this means there is less chance for war between them right? And isn’t less war a good thing?

    They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, therefore it seems to me that regardless how these countries come together an cooperate with one another, people will label their achievements as a new type of evil New World Order.

    Damned if they do, or damned if they don’t. So, what’s the alternative?

    Correct me if I am wrong, but in my limited interpretation of the Chinese prescriptive constitution, the Chinese people don’t nor will ever own anything. Property, gold or free speech. They have a one party command economy with no hope for the future. The CCP is literally selling organs of political dissidents. Caveat Emptor, any person, corporation or government doing business with China will probably not end up cultivating anything but chains for their posterity. True, ideas rule the world and the CCP has the absolute worst. Their economy and ecosphere will eventually collapse as the USSR’s did. The question is the contagion and how much clever stealing from the future they did with their new paper contract castle in Beijing.

      There’s this preconceived notion that the Chinese may not enjoy the same freedoms that we do here in the West.

      Given that the Chinese pay property tax like we do in the West (in other words, we may perceive to own land, but in realty since we both pay property tax we don’t really own it, right?)

      Google “Chinese house in middle of highway” and tell me this scenario would be allowed to play out in America, yet it happened in China.

      Seems like the Chinese may enjoy more “freedoms” that Americans.

        PeaceFroggs, funny image – thanks for the tip. Though it appears that the house predated the highway. The owner was a holdout, refusing all government low ball offers trying to entice him to move. It would have been a different story if he had built the house after the road was built, but as it is, holding out from the government that’s trying to forcefully usurp your property is a pretty common thing.

          There are hundreds of these so called “nail houses”, but I think you missed the greater point I was trying to make.

          The fact is, even though people pay property tax, the Chinese government did not physically force these people off their land. (Waco comes to mind)

          I’m no expert in Eminent Domain, but from what I read, China’s property rights, although far from perfect, have improved greatly in the last few years.

          My point was, given our preconceived notion about China, holding out from the government that’s trying to forcefully usurp your property wouldn’t be a pretty common thing.

          I believe most of us would have thought they would had simply bulldozed these houses down and paved over them right? I mean, who ever heard of property rights in communist China?

    Hola James. Your work is impressive & very helpful for my thought process regarding geopolitics & realpolitik in the current international climate. I have followed your output for at least several years now & wish to express my gratitude for your selfless devotion to telling the truth about our world, in so far as that is possible in the age of propaganda & spinmeisters we are passing through.
    I do wonder, however, how you see the banksters, led by Goldman-Sachs, as pulling the strings of the BRICS & their alternative market to the fiat petrodollar market which has dominated the global economy since Bretton Wood. The sanctions-mad Atlantic Alliance, in effect, has expelled so many nations from their economic regime through the application of sanctions that an alternative market system was inevitable. The BRICS-Plus is the expression of this development in global finance & trade. The BRICS’ New Development Bank (NDB) has been formed as an answer to the blackballing, extortionist policy of “eternal debt” forced on the “third world” nations for so many decades. It is the alternative to the condition of debt slavery imposed by the IMF & World Bank. The countries which are anxious to join the new market are those which, heretofore, were unable to obtain financing in the debt-based economic system without selling their people down the river merely to obtain loans to pay the interest on previous loans, while imposing “economic reforms” (read austerity for the poor, & privatization & deregulation for the wealthy & corporations) which drive the profits of neoliberal policies. Since the BRICS, BRICS-Plus & the NDB, as well as the Shangai Cooperation Organization (SCO) & Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) are all efforts to escape the debt slavery & tyranny of sanctions imposed by the Atlantic Alliance to control natural resources & impose financial monopoly. They are actually, imho, a ray of hope for breaking that monopoly & creating a new multi-polar politico-economic regime with competition, that lodestone of capitalism (if the proponents of that system are to be believed). I look forward to a fair distribution of the world’s wealth among all the nations (& thus, the people) of the world. An end to the debt-based world economic system is an end to suffering & inequality as we know it now. Alternative markets are the devolution of economic power you, as an avowed anarchist, would seem to be advocating. I understand that you see this new BRICS market as a “here comes the new boss, same as the old boss” scenario, but it is what we have now to break the current monopoly on economic, & therefore political, power. Let us not “throw the baby out with the bathwater.” Great changes are afoot; we shall have to see where the sanctions- & debt-inspired new market(s) lead us. I, for one, am excited by the development of the concepts the BRICS embody.

The best weapon in the history of warfare is one in which the victims are willing to pay to have it used on em. The money I used to waste on TV is now used to buy books the the state would most certainly not approve of.

      The other night I was thinking about how life was in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s.
      Everyone had a phone line and a TV antenna on their roof. People drove cars or motorcycles. No electronic calculators.
      My brother and I talked about Star Trek when it first hit TV in the 60’s. We thought the idea of the communicator (cell phone) was hundreds of years away.
      Lifestyle was good. Normal food was somewhat pure normal at this time.

      I compare then and now.
      This era, 50 years later sucks by comparison. The fundamentals could be the same. But no… now we have over-complexity, incredibly destructive pollutants/wavelengths, a terrible food supply and angst.

      For me, the primary benefit of this era is the internet, the ability to access information and communicate easily.

And n that period a huge amount of the US citizens were brainwashed with TV by their own government. That’s why you remember the introduction of Star Trek.
