The Hague tribunal could easily become a show trial, good PR for the international tribunal concept and WHO, meanwhile, behind the curtain Monsanto is likely reinventing itself via new technologies to capture the food market that make the current GMO technology appear medieval by comparison.
Among the new technologies, the one that has been most developed and refined does NOT create genetically engineered plants as the target consumer product. New varieties are hybridized naturally and a highly efficient selection process identifies the perfect strain. (GMO plants are sometimes created as beta tests in this model.)

Precision genetic engineering, such as the CRISPR-Cas9 system, is another rapidly developing technology which I am amazed at but also terrified for the potential applications in the hands of megalomaniac psychopaths. Biologically speaking, many or most of the detrimental unintended consequences of current crude examples of genetic engineering could be largely avoided with PGE. That would put activists in the position of opposing GMOs more on principle than provable deleterious effects. Not an easy case to make given typical short attention spans.
