Square One: US Negotiating Peace With Taliban
It’s not often that you see an MSM headline that tells an entire story, complete with a plot and sub-plot, but when you do it’s usually in a tabloid.
Such is the case with this whopper from The Daily Fail:
Talk about a headline. But look at what it tells us: The longest war in American history may finally be coming to an end, not because any strategic objective has been met but because . . . someone is scared that Trump might end the war? What on earth is going on here?

‘Bump’
Sometimes, valuable posts which really indicate to the reader can be highlighted by an acknowledgement or the word ‘bump’.
There are so many good comments and interesting or funny posts, that sometimes it is hard to acknowledge everyone.

Sometimes the Corbett Community does a good job of policing the board.
My mother’s brother’s girlfriend’s second cousin third neighbor to the right made a zillion $$$ per hour by doing nothing other than sitting on her ass whole day long. Follow my bullshit link to get scammed http://steal.my.crap.com/ohmygodwhydidifollowthisshitlinkomfg
You ole spammer…Great humor!
I couldn’t resist.
So how long has she been working for the government?
Zing!

James, I found your implication about existence of a connection between “hostility” in the comments section and a low participation rate among your subscriber a bit excessive. I can only recall of one example that could maybe fit that bill which involved member “ashlee” (I think, an irregular poster) who got heckled a bit by member “Gaslight” (who may have taken a break in the meantime from his incessant ways) but heckling is part and parcel of freedom of speech, isn’t it?
How large a percentage of people we encounter daily would be ready to speak out or at least express some opinions (on stuff they are somewhat competent at)? I’m not equating posting on an internet site with temerity, but there are certainly some strains in the fabric of society showing here, like the three percent rule. As Aaron Hawkins stated in one of his videos, to be ready to actually resists, one needs to prepare mentally first, don’t think you’ll just be magically ready when the time gets right. The vast majority of the subjects dealt with daily on this website are completely unimaginable to the vast majority of the public.
The community could be more accepting, but accepting of what? I have long lost any hope for the possibility that we’ll just all get along; that’s impossible. Look, as an example, at the recent podcast on the Ripple Effect and that bit involving 9/11 and Hunter Maast. At first, you were belittling him a bit with some relatively crude witticism (very extremely thinly applied,) but then you pulled back and found something from what he was saying that you could agree upon.
But the matter of the fact is, he showed a stellar example of hardcore rationalizations and circular logic involving something you are very knowledgeable about and hold dear to your heart. And yet you pulled back, in an attempt to stay on topic and to avoid offending Maats. Who, as my feeling for the duration of the remainder of the discussion confirmed, you did manage to offend, even if no insults had been used, but he kept at a distance, probably feeling a prickly sensation against his bubble. In the end you catered a bit to his ego and made things right (as if there was any need,) but I’m not sure if there’s any silver lining to be found here. Is there any real difference between holding someone’s hand through an ordeal and just putting it all out there in a full frontal fashion? If there is danger that one may just walk out the door if the second method is applied, does that mean we’re stuck with pussyfooting around?
I am 100% on board with “eliminating” insults and sticking to grace, but I personally don’t care much about insults. In fact, when discussing (in a non belligerent fashion) with someone to find yourself on the receiving end of on insult equals an instant win (as if there was something to be won) or at least a huge (and free) margin of advantage.
Well said, mkey.
Glad you got rid of the Karma system, I hated it so much a actually added a browser side script to get rid of it long ago…
var hate = document.getElementsByClassName(‘user-karma’);
for (var i = 0; i < hate.length; i++) {
hate[i].style.visibility = "hidden";
}
It may be possible to just hide the bits you don't want by changing the style sheets on the server, however I'm not familiar with wordpress at all.
I think part of the hostility may have come about by the way the new comment section looked and operated, so hopefully it will calm down a little now.
Will be interesting to see what happens with Spam.
Solution: Sections in your comments
I think comments need to be structured.
You could have “sections” in your comments. These sections are posts that you made yourself. And we can (only?) reply to those posts.
It would look like:
QUESTIONS ON ARTICLE
SOLUTIONS
QUESTIONS FOR CORBETT
OPEN SOURCE INVESTIGATION (On certain topic)
DISCUSSIONS HERE
INTERESTING LINKS
FUNNY STUFF
NEW INSIGHTS
With Sections you place a request to the readers for certain
types of comments.
Some youtube-channels place certain questions to spice up
certain discussion, but be careful with that.

Denialism: what drives people to reject the truth
https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/aug/03/denialism-what-drives-people-to-reject-the-truth
Heaving alert. I barely managed to read a few paragraphs.
“America is talking to the Taliban in a bid to end 17 years of Afghanistan war as intermediaries seek deal with fanatics because diplomats fear Trump will withdraw all U.S. troops’
Yes that certainly is a headline to cause one to do a double-take!
Interestingly I read another one yesterday that almost caused me to fall off my chair!
“TSA looking at $300 million in cuts, including air marshals and employee benefits”
And it came from the MSM no less.
But this is the part of the article that really shook me up…
“By far the biggest and most controversial proposed cut is the $115 million the agency would save by eliminating screening at airports where the flights have 60 passengers or less. Under that proposal, first reported by CNN, passengers with connecting flights would be screened at the larger airports, which have more sophisticated security measures, before boarding the next flight.”
You have to read this and really let it sink in.
It’s win-win on so many levels.
Would this come into effect because:
a) 17 years is a long time, and terrorists have forgotten how effective it was to hijack planes?
b) Knocking off a mere 60 passengers is not such a big deal, compared to 60+ passengers?
c) The money saved over the years will more than make up for a few potential hijackings that may disrupt the world once again?
d) People are growing weary of airport delays due to security checks?
e) It’s the smart thing to do?
f) ?
f) business as usual
Oh really?
Do you also think the U.S. negotiating peace with the Taliban is business as usual?
Although the article states that eliminating screening for smaller flights is still just a proposal, the mere fact that a TSA working group is even considering this is an eye opener.
Other than the U.S. officially declaring the war on terror is over, I don’t see any way they can stop this bogus program (screening) without getting some serious egg on their face.

Anyone care to explain the importance of the 9/11 article Corbett shared? Is it just an update to the “official” story?
Upon my initial glance, I interpreted it as an update providing more amazing “coincidences” to anyone paying attention, particularly surrounding WTC7.
9/11 updates
Z-Taco,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I once followed 9/11 updates everyday since 2006, but over the past year or so I rarely keep up. I like the WordPress format of the article.
This HISTORY COMMONS update also was posted at 911blogger by a 9/11 researcher known as “Shoestring”, who James Corbett highly respects.

The History Commons website was originally developed and operated by the now-defunct Center for Cooperative Research (CCR) which was founded in 2001 by Derek Mitchell. In June 2002, environmental activist Paul Thompson joined CCR, bringing with him a copious amount of research on the September 11 attacks. Thompson eventually used the material he contributed to the website for his 2004 book, The Terror Timeline. Due to the quality of the research, Thompson was invited by Rep. Cynthia McKinney to testify at a Congressional hearing on the failings and flaws of the 9/11 Commission report, and he did so in 2005.

I appreciate the update on Afghanistan by James Corbett in this recent article. What a long war! For what?!
Being an old codger, in some respects, the years 2001-2002 don’t seem all that long ago.
But to many of my co-workers and folks I run into, they were born in the 1990’s. This virtually is a lifetime of war, and then these kids sign up for the military. Geez…They were born into an odd mindset of American foreign domination which includes an image of “heroic patriotism”.
Some of these folks in their 20’s & early 30’s perhaps have air pockets in their brains. It is not unusual for me to see some odd attitudes and behaviors.
But I guess it is not exclusive to that generation.
For example:
– Left Turn Lanes –
– “What goes on in these people’s minds?” –
At many left turn lanes, traffic will build up with people wanting to turn left. The two lanes to the right are for “straight ahead”.
Yet, on occasions in the left turn lane there will be a car in front of me who stops one or two or three, even four, car lengths away from the car in front of them, while waiting for the arrow light to turn green. In other words, there is this long stretch of empty space in the queue of cars. So, here you have a line of cars waiting to turn left and thus the left turning line extends out into the “straight ahead” lanes.
It is like the driver is oblivious of the line of cars behind them and the potential traffic hazard. The drive could pull up using that long stretch of empty space in front of him. But he just sits there.
But…you don’t see this type of “long stretch of empty space between cars” at the drive-thru of fast food places.
Odd.
I could give other examples which I see everyday. Everyday.
It befuddles me.
Ummmm… I didn’t realize it was possible to talk about the so-called “Afghan War” without even breathing a so much as a syllable about opium. As I dimly recall there were some sort of stats reflecting low opium output in the year 2000 and then boom, you’ve got 9/11, the perfect pretext for Moving in with US soldiers literally overseeing an explosion in production. I must’ve missed a few chapters…
It’s hard to say what TPTSB consider worthy of having direct contrôl over…
But I could definately envision using what appears to be a military debacle (the so-called Afghan war which has probably been immensely profitable for the drug mafias like Bayer and Aventis and the Corsican Dons) to usher along the controlled demolition of the US, it’s image, it’s money, it’s mission as military arm of the deep state which is probably slated to be transferred East as well. Or simply change entirely in nature preferring viral bio-warfare.
Space, bio-warfare and ambiant surveillance have probably rendered warfare as we’ve known it over the last few centuries clunkily obsolete. Besides being turned on its own citizens the US military is probably most useful now as a pretext for perfecting robot/psyop/ cyborg experimentation. And now there’s the “Space Force”…
So what about opium? Has it been efficiently synthesized and rendered utterly obsolete like the rest of Earth’s creations, the jackbooted military and Uncle Sam himself?
Moon of Alabama commenter Pft encapsulâtes my un-reeducated sentiments on the matter pretty aptly:
“… US is staying in Afghanistan also to counter China , keep opium production high and of course there is the TAPI pipeline to “protect” that is backed by US as an alternative to the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline that would have tapped Iran’s South Pars gas field. A hostile or unfriendly Pakistan is just one more reason to stay…”
But I need to take time some time to look more closely – maybe start by reading the Moon of Alabama article itself…
Here’s another MoA commenter who makes sense to me: similar to the above:
“…The decision to invade Afghanistan had been taken before the 9/11 false flag coup. Had nothing much to do with the CIA’s al-Qaeda mercenaries.
As I understood it, there were many agendas at work: testing weapons and making money for the MIC; controlling the lucrative (how many hundreds of billions of dollars ?) opium/ heroin production/profiteering; military bases relating to Iran, Russia, China, Pakistan and other …stans, etc; control of oil and gas pipelines; access to increasingly valuable and sought rare earth minerals; proximity to oil and gas actual and potential.
More generally, subjugating Afghanistan was a necessary part of the ‘full spectrum dominance’ ‘we will rule the earth’ doctrine, dear til recently to too many mad hatters, and still evoking a misty eyed longing in some, no doubt….”
and intriguing sentence by another:
“…The recent major attack by the Taliban on ISIS formations suggests some coordination between Russia military intelligence and Taliban ground forces…”
accompanied by the Following link:
fort-russ.com/2018/07/historic-meeting-of-intel-chiefs-from-pakistan-iran-russia-and-china-but-why/
As if… as if this US-funded Frankenstein that is the Taliban could drive out the “US”…
I suspected Pakistan – created by the British just Following WW2 as a mutilating sectarian wild card – would play a key role in triggering WW3…
Betcha Afghanistan’s pretty geostrategic (just ’cause it’s a “Stan” and next to Iran) and so Pakistan blocking supplies is also one sexy pretext for eugenically showering some poor Pakis with chemical weapons…
Well the whole thing is a sham but I do hope it ends… although the problem remains that Afghanistan is only one of many countries the US continues to bomb to hell. So this particular conflict may end but what about all the other countries? Still looking like a war without end…

I feel a bit guilty having listened to this, since i never have left a comment on CR. To avoid being attacked by others than fellow scandinavians, I will say my meaning is swedish: Hade jag haft mer pengar hade jag ökat mitt monetära stöd till James hundrafalt, ty arbetet han gör är viktigt. Eftersom han säger det mesta jag själv vill säga, men gör det bättre än jag skulle kunna så nöjer jag mig med att lyssna på honom och nicka och samtycka.
Hi Sonny,

Can you say that in Texan? 😉
You shouldn’t feel guilty, Sonny. As you are a subscriber, your money goes just as far as anyone else who comments here. Also, your Scandinavian perspective could only make the dialogue here more interesting. Don’t hold back!
The U.S. will never get what it wants out of any of the tribes in the region. All of them know what the U.S. is up to and will not concede anything. The U.S. may get some short term..something, but nothing of permanent value. A friend of mine did mercenary work in that region for 3 years. Even as a “tough guy” former Gung Ho spec. ops. soldier for the U.S. military he admitted to me, the last time I saw him years ago, we will never win that over there! He seemed almost defeated when he said this. I say Walk away America.
Remember Mr Corbett’s 2014 piece “China and the US: Frenemies with benefits” ?
“…The “great conflict†of the 21st century is going to be used for the same purposes as the great conflicts of the 20th century: to steer the world ever further into a global governmental system that consolidates and expands the power of these oligarchical interests, whether they be “American†or “Chinese†or “assorted other†(as if the global jetset really cares what country’s emblem is stamped on their passports)…
…The US is the aging, bloated empire, increasingly paranoid about defending its former glories and using up its political, military and economic capital at an ever faster pace in order to do so. The Chinese, meanwhile, can preach about the virtues of the “de-Americanized world†and be the good guy in the Good Cop, Bad Cop scenario with their ‘alternative’ (globalist) development banks and (globalist) ratings agencies and (globalist) financial bodies….”
A new step in this direction with Uncle Sam ‘negligently’ leaving lucrative reconstruction of Afghanistan to his ‘conscientious’ Frenemy described in the following article:
“…‘China, India can partner in rebuilding Afghanistan’
Chinese scholar says U.S. shows no interest in reconstruction of war-hit nation
“The Trump administration would not be focusing on reconstruction. It is intent on fighting terrorists and also focusing on the (Afghan) peace process…”
…Mr. Hu stressed that growing pressure from the Trump administration was spurring Eurasia-centred “regional cooperationâ€. “(Donald) Trump’s pressure on Pakistan, China and India is visible. That could be one of the driving forces that could be pushing these countries to move in a coordinated way to counter this pressure.â€
“Finally the connectivity programmes of the two countries can merge with each other into one sub-region integral,†he said….”
