Have you seen Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest character. He’s masquerading as a person who wants to preserve free speech by censoring free speech, and as usual his audience is lapping it up. The only problem is, this isn’t a joke and he’s not acting. Find out why Sacha Baron Cohen is wrong about everything (including his own comedy) in this week’s edition of #PropagandaWatch.

The younger and non-British might not know that anti-free speech mouthpiece, Sasha Baron-Cohen and free speech campaigner, Ricky Gervais both got their breaks in the first series of the same television programme, The Eleven O’Clock Show on Channel 4 in the late 1990s. In fact, appearances of Ricky Gervais and Sasha Baron-Cohen, as Ali G, used to alternate, one night one, the next night the other.

I wonder if this has to do with Stakeholder Capitalism I’ve read about on the World Economic Forum. (they mention the Davos manifesto) I know the powers embed themselves into different organizations to push along policy.

As I was listening/watching this it unexpectedly struck me how much it reminded me of an earlier Corbett Report “The TSA Is A Milgram Experiment” at https://www.corbettreport.com/the-tsa-is-a-milgram-experiment/ with Sacha Baron Cohen wittingly or unwittingly playing the role of the “teacher” delivering electric shocks to a “learner”.

To quote from that article “But the “study” is a sham. The “teacher” is not, in fact, delivering electric shocks, and no one is actually being harmed. In reality, the “learner” is an actor, an accomplice of the psychologist. What is actually being tested is the “teacher’s” willingness to deliver increasingly powerful electric shocks to a perfect stranger merely on the behest of an authority figure (the psychologist).”

This reminded me of the quotes in this report from the article cited “Sacha Baron Cohen Is Wrong About Social Media, Wrong About Section 230… And Even Wrong About His Own Comedy” by Mike Masnick at techdirt excerpted and quoted in this report.

  4. Van says:

I like the penn jillette point about Cohen not understanding his own comedy. That maybe, for example, people in a Arizona bar go along with singing a song that is offensive to Jews because of an impulse to welcome a stranger. It does not prove racism. If they were to sing the song to a Jew in a targeted and mean fashion, that would clearly be wrong. I also think that the attitudes of the woke speech police cause people to feel so constricted that they release the tension in awkward ways. People often want to transgress against those self righteous police more they want to transgress against a particular demographic. Everybody should watch the scene in Gran Torino when Clint Eastwood gets a haircut from an Italian barber and they exchange racial epithets as a matter of male bonding. https://youtu.be/74I7Nl1mKig If we could bring back a little of this tradition, there could be world peace…. Lastly, I liked the labradoodle joke. Maybe you have to live an American suburb to get it. I’m usually picky about jokes, but the idea of psycho Stephen Miller having three labradoodles is a humorous image. And Miller probably would give them those names too.

Just in case someone wanted to see this disgusting low brow filth merchant ‘digging’ for antisemitism…. he did look rather surprised at how many people sung along

I also laughed at Borat… but after a bit I realized what a corrosive effect such dirt has on your mind. The demoralizing effect of the wrong kind of media consumption is as shown in this article (E M Jones talks a ton about such things in ‘Libido Dominandi’)

Its funny how some people use their freedom to do gross, debasing things in public and then whine about how other people are mean and unpleasant.
I dont know much about this site but the article looks like a pretty good and you used to be able to find a full 60 min speech all over

    • calibrator says:

      > Its funny how some people use their freedom to do gross, debasing things in public and then whine about how other people are mean and unpleasant.

This is exactly the kind of bigotry Cohen speaks about. Problem is he doesn’t recognize that he is guilty himself.

Secondly, some of the stuff he puts out works thanks to its outrageousness or sometimes “sickness” – if you have a penchant for this.

And let’s be real: This kind of comedy has a long tradition, especially in the UK. Monty Python for example, while miles above Cohen, had some sick outrageous stuff for their times, too – but at least they didn’t become ADL puppets (to the best of my knowledge).

So can we come back to a time where everything is a harmless screwball comedy like in the 1940ies? Probably not.

But if we condemn that kind of comedy we also should condemn and burn all movies, all video games and all books – except what our communist goverment does not classify as “corrosive” and “allows” us, right?

      • manbearpig says:

        “…at least they didn’t become ADL puppets…”

Having just learned that B’nai Brith created the ADL, it’s unclear who’s puppeteering whom…

        • calibrator says:

You should know, MBP: It’s always a “rings within rings” structure.

Otherwise a small group couldn’t control a much a larger group.

Public figures like Cohen are usually only found in outer circles.

So what circle controls B’nai Brith…?

    • n4x5 says:

I find the growing awareness of the dangers of pornography to be encouraging. Many men are voluntarily abandoning it after discovering its effects firsthand. Far from being a harmless vice, it is a highly artificial stimulus with serious potential for harm, both on the consumption side as well as the production side. The internet as transmission medium has amplified into a major crisis what was once a pernicious, albeit maybe manageable, problem in the past. E. Michael Jones uses a Catholic approach, but an appreciation of what is going on should hopefully be possible regardless of religious belief.

As a general rule, whenever something is sold to us as liberating and empowering, it’s a good bet that its actual outcomes will be enslavement and debasement — and that its promoters are aware of this.

James, another great show. In terms of support material
for analysis, I would add a link to Penn Jillette’s own
explanation for why Cohen misunderstands the dynamics of
his signature ‘gotcha’ moments with ordinary folks in the
    heartland… usually the American heartland.

    https://pennfans.net/the-worst-show-in-vegas-of-all-time-in-this-or-any-other-dimension-etc/

Mr. Jillette’s explanation begins at (15.30) on the recording
track, and he takes about 5 minutes with it. Too bad there is no transcription available for such insightful podcasts, and that is
an ‘extra’ we wish you had here on the Corbett Report. (Sorry, you
give so much as it is.) Addiction to key-word searching is an
affliction worth resisting, we can agree.
    Cheers! Ron

Using any of the various social media “platforms” is voluntary…no one is forced to look at or even engage in posting to them….
I don’t own an iPhone AKA government tracking device, I don’t use ANY social media so all these arguments actually seem ridiculous to me….

However, I do own a computer and use it to search for information and the real censorship to me is e.g. censoring information about abortion, information about the phony climate change science, information about the dangers of vaccination, information about geoengineering, etc

I also consider censoring the Biblical viewpoint on creation and salvation to be the most dangerous censorship…millions will be sentenced to an eternity in Hall for lack of knowledge…even God said of His people, the Jews (Sasha this applies to you) “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:” – Hosea 4:6

  8. barii says:

    Thank you Mr Corbett
I enjoy the smaller and more frequent bytes #propagandawatch
It’s very difficult to follow the leftover snazi propaganda on steroids with the contradictions/riddles. Your documented links and show notes break it down into layman terms and I’m learning to decipher “its” content. Unfortunately, pulling the average adult out of the matrix is difficult.
Your documentary on the gangsters running the Federal Reserve unplugged me and the deprogramming has been difficult. I must’ve watched it a dozen times. I was unable to work for almost three months and all I could watch on my box, was your archives for almost 24hrs a day, daily.
I always knew there was something wrong with the TV box programmed narratives and could never really figure it out. My grampaw told me at an early age that the federal government is not too be trusted.

    What is going on here?

    • flammable says:

He is using the common definition of conspiracy theories. Anything they think is unproven and false is a “conspiracy theory”. A criminal conspiracy like the story you linked simply gets called a crime. Because conspiracy is now a bad word saved for stories believed to be untrue.

Usually the combination of mentioning Anti-Semitism and conspiracy together is reference to a conspiracy that all Jews are working together to control the world. Which I have only heard from people fighting against Anti-Semitism.

I think Sasha Baron Cohen like many Jewish people are fearful of being attacked. Yes he is spreading propaganda but he spreads it to protect himself. It just takes one homicidal maniac to end everything. For most people it is best to do everything to stop that than accept our vulnerability as humans.

    • stephen11 says:

I was wondering which conspiracies he was referring to as well as he slid in that Russiagate comment.

  10. cooly says:

As far as his not understanding his own comedy-

His assertion that he is exposing people’s true attitudes is not entirely false. There is something to that. But he definitely is not aware (or is not acknowledging) the factor of human nature, which has been addressed here, that in a face to face situation people want to be kind and accommodating to a person. And this is what I would add- especially if that person is clearly mentally impaired or socially retarded, which his characters have been.

By the way, today the DVDs I ordered as gifts came. I will tell my friends to put on their seatbelts before watching them.

    Thanks Mr. Corbett.

How does B’nai Brith elect its presidents?

“…The order is headed by a president elected at triennial meetings of the supreme lodge (made up of representatives of district grand lodges), a board of governors, and an administrative committee…”

      Wow! Sounds Masonic and well-connected!

Saw this but can’t vouch for the website as I’m unfamiliar with it:

      , however. There’s a reason for that.*

“…Sacha Baron Cohen’s father, Gerald Baron Cohen was President of the B’nai B’rith first lodge of England. He also served as a director of the university subversion branch of B’nai B’rith, Hillel (note that one of his companies is listed as “Ali G Limited.” “Ali G” is one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters). This rather important piece of information is left out of Sacha Baron Cohen’s biographies. Knowing it helps us to better understand his ‘humor.’…”

ooops, last quote above should read:

“…In 2009, Sky News documented that Baron Cohen deceived a Palestinian Christian into an interview and deceived his viewers to believe that the subject was a hostile Muslim terrorist. The man filed a defamation lawsuit. The ‘Anti-Defamation’ League of B’nai B’rith was nowhere to be found, however…. There’s a reason for that.*

“…Sacha Baron Cohen’s father, Gerald Baron Cohen was President of the B’nai B’rith first lodge of England. He also served as a director of the university subversion branch of B’nai B’rith, …” etc…

        interesting…

        • manbearpig says:

More on the Palestinian Christian deceived by Sacha Baron Cohen that speaks volumes about his brand of “humour”:

          2009 Guardian article:

“…He met Baron Cohen one week later, accompanied by Jubran and Sami Awad, founder of the Holy Land trust – although Baron Cohen described the two to Letterman as bodyguards for “the terrorist”. Abu Aita says that Brüno’s crew chose the location, which is under total Israeli control – and which appears in the film as Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp, in Lebanon.

“We trust people and we never refuse an opportunity to discuss the Palestinian cause,” he says.

“We went upstairs to one of the hotel rooms and talked about the Palestinian situation for over two hours,” says Abu Aita, adding that Brüno seemed serious – although his knowledge was limited.

At the very end of the discussion, Baron Cohen asked a couple of questions about al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden, which Abu Aita considered oddly out of place and which he asked the translator to repeat.

Then, when Brüno asked to be kidnapped, Abu Aita says that his actual reply was edited out. “I was angered by the question,” says Abu Aita. “I said, first of all I’m not a terrorist. Second, you are a guest here, so I must take care of you until you leave my country.”

Abu Aita forgot all about the interview until the the film came out and he started to receive countless calls from outraged Palestinians.

“They ask how I could allow myself to be laughed at in this way, how I could agree to it,” he says. “They are angry that I have embarrassed the Palestinian people, because we are being presented in this false, disgusting way.”…”

            From the wiki page:

“…Baron Cohen claims he set up a meeting with Aita in the West Bank with the help of a CIA agent…”

Does this suggest that the CIA helped produce a film that deliberately defamed and humiliated a Palestinian activist?

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%BCno

Sacha Baron Cohen can have CIA agents helping him with his films??

He could’ve “tricked” any innocent person into looking like a terrorist; why choose a Palestinian activist??

Why is this form of tricking people into appearing in movies where their words are misrepresented out of context even institutionalized??

I’m gonna have to ask my students about this…

It is my understanding that Leo Frank was the president of his local chapter of B’nai Brith which was why his conviction for murder was contested so fiercely- its is my understanding that B’nai Brith IS rather masonic in its structure and in members bonds of loyalty to one another.
I don’t know enough to have an opinion as to Franks guilt or innocence but the fact that his trial, commutation of his sentence to life by an allegedly corrupt governor and subsequent lynching murder (allegedly the only KNOWN lynching of a Jewish guy in the USA) are still considered relevant generations later make it likely that getting him an exoneration is still important for some reason.
Not to be callous but there are no doubt dozens of unjustly convicted people that no one cares about

the United States is on track, a year from now, to formally withdraw from the Paris Accords. A sewer of bigotry and vile conspiracy theories that threatens democracy and our planet— this cannot possibly be what the creators of the internet had in mind…”

Wait, so… so let me get this straight…

An award-winning media Baron who made his career through, among other entrapments, the defamation of a Palestinian activist unwillingly portrayed in an internationally distributed film as a terrorist:

wins the Anti Defamation League’s International Leadership Award

and gets to sermonize people about hate speech

and condescendingly promote the institutionalized censorship of free speech

and even the JAILING of people who hold opinions he doesn’t agree with,

such as those calling “climate change” a hoax?

“Freedom of speech is not freedom of reach.”

“Freedom of Reach”!? You mean the ‘Freedom of reach’ of a televised ADL Keynote address? The Freedom of Reach of internationally distributed film-makers? The Freedom of Reach of Palestinian activist defamers condemning climate skepticism?

Did I get this right? What am I missing here??

    This serial-defamation lawsuit defendant with exceptional Freedom of Reach opines;

“…We have standards and practices in television and the movies; there are certain things we cannot say or do. In England, I was told that Ali G could not curse when he appeared before 9pm. Here in the U.S., the Motion Picture Association of America regulates and rates what we see. I’ve had scenes in my movies cut or reduced to abide by those standards…”
“…you already allowed one foreign power to interfere in our elections… do it again and you go to jail…”

So, this ADL award recipient with exceptional Freedom of Reach is promoting the institutionalized “standards and practices in television and the movies” (that he apparently doesn’t even respect himself but that he can settle outside of court in some other manner)

that make it possible for a CIA agent to be requisitioned by a foreigner to facilitate trapping a Palestinian activist into participation of a film without his even knowing it, to help said foreigner produce material that is outright defamation of said representative of said martyred people

and he complains about the Freedom of Reach of foreign intervention in the elections via social media??

    ??

Drennan wouldn’t discuss the terms. Lawyers for Baron Cohen, Letterman and other defendants involved with the movie and Letterman’s Late Show didn’t immediately return calls…”

      yet

The meme is the message: a new form of surgical strike on LinkedIn brains rendered catatonic by information overload, fatigue and fear; fear of difference, of being mistaken, politically incorrect, unmasked as racist, homophobic, selfish, stupid or superficial…

You are what you eat; Hyper condensed ideas artificially reduced to super cereal-bar slogans with all complex flavours boiled out; Mass-produced and processed bite-sized brain food for quick, easy and consensual consumption packed with emotional MSG penetrating pleasure centers, numbing receptors to nuance, irrigating indignation against complex and controversial nonconformity…

I asked a sound technician student what the most interesting aspect of working for an internationally broadcast multi-lingual news program was: He replied that it was the fact of seeing first-hand, every day, that none of the news reported is checked – just hastily spit back out from Reuters or AFP…

Reality hermetically contained within media echo chambers…

This is an excellent episode. Comedy is a powerful paradigm setter, don’t underestimated it — what people laugh at and who they’re laughing with — there’s an excellent “Sopranos” scene where Tony makes a joke with the camera then slo-moing everyone’s reaction.
Think of laughing as an energy release, like an orgasm, and telling a joke, as an aggression and a form of seduction — you have to be careful who you laugh with.

2 people spammed the entire comment section with one-liners. Geeze. I don’t think that’s happened before.

Anyway, here are my questions. I’ll have to read the comments here some other time as I’m busy.

    Thanks

I’m VERY confused by all of this…

    1. I thought the gov’t OWNS FB, G & YT b/c they started Silicon Valley. So if that’s the case, why would they need to STEP into handle censorship when they are the ones leading the way on what goes shown in the first place?

    2. Zuckerberg says he doesn’t think censorship will work YET he’s closed down TONS of FB pages & groups due to censorship?

    3. Zuckerberg is Jewish, so why is Cohen going on about him as if Zuckerberg is allowing antisemitism.

    4. Does this section 230 (no I didn’t know about it) allow us to get the name, address, IP, e-mail, etc. FROM the site that holds this info about the person who defamed us?

That’s ALL I’ve been asking for for the last 20 or so years b/c I’ve been lied about online forever (it affected my biz too) & Google fought me to give me the info I needed to sue the people & so the lies continue to remain online on blogspot.

I feel it’s the SITE’S responsibility to keep that info (not just fake info) & then be forced to provide it so we CAN go after them. Not work in conjunction with the defamers to hide their identity.

Something I’ve thought about recently is the power that the tech giants have amassed. What triggered this thought was a conversation I had recently with some friends who were talking about how great the Jack Ryan tv show is. After researching it, it’s clear that the show is at least in part a propaganda operation. The show is an Amazon original, and the producers and actors were in close talks with the CIA who helped shape it. Amazon also happens to be a CIA contractor. The show spews propaganda about evil Middle Easterners and Venezuelans, and heroic CIA officers and U.S. military men.

I suppose what we are seeing is a symptom of the Scientific Technological Elite that Eisenhower warned about. It is probably also a symptom of the relationship between private and government power.
