Rambo III is silly popcorn entertainment. But it is silly popcorn entertainment that is set during the Soviet-Afghan war, and as such it reflects the standard propaganda narrative that was being fed to the American public at that time. So what do we make of this silly propaganda today, after 9/11 and the conquest of the “brave freedomfighters” of Afghanistan by NATO?

If Rambo is in Afghanistan, I hope somebody has been asked to pick up his Social Security Checks ! No video but I thought I heard Richard Crenna’s voice in the audio, probably not because he died in 2003 !
“Purge – Election Year”
In Dallas recently, The Nation of Islam brings up this movie “Purge” during a talk about VAXXED and the vaccine issue. (Our group members were there.)

The comparision of both movies (Rambo III and Charlie Wilson’s War) to me was very interesting and I remembered Adorno’s often quoted sentence: “There is no correct life in the wrong.”
If you don’t know the whole history from the beginning you would tend to agree with Stallone and/or Wilson. But if you know how it started, you are able to unmask they both had a propagandistic function too, beside of being undertaining.
I’m looking forward to your observations of “The purge”. Esthetically it may have something in common with “Suicide Squad”. Maybe I’m wrong. Just from the first glance, I find it particularly striking that they seem to have a similar look-and-feel. Aren’t they in some way a mirror to the abyss of the summer of rage?
I’ll admit I haven’t seen either of them though. But I certainly will do “my homework”.
Bless you, James, for slogging through this tripe Rambo 3. I thought my head was going to explode from the sheer stupidity of it. Hard to believe I used to enjoy stuff like that. It’s amazing how your tastes change in your choices of entertainments as you get older. Can’t wait for your Purge analysis. Keep up the good work.

Never saw, honestly after this I realize I don’t need to, but I might not actually avoid it if it happened to come my way just to directly observe the deceptive propagandistic points it portrays.
The most important point about your analysis is that every mainstream “story” or “narrative” must always be understood to be a probable purposeful or inadvertent delivery of disinformation.
Sorry to say I have no specific insider knowledge to add about the potential CIA or state department involvement in the production (which of course doesn’t mean that didn’t happen), but, considering the degree of untruths included in the narrative that would make this work an inadvertent venue for Imperial disinformation.
