The Independent Science News website has some very interesting stuff on it. Of interest to me was a 2014 article/book review “The Real Cost of Fracking: How America’s Shale Gas Boom Is Threatening Our Families, Pets, and Food “.
Independent Science News also has a YouTube Channel.

“Toxic Sludge is Good for you!” – a Book Review caught my eye, because I have seen first hand a sewage wastewater treatment plant and their toxic sludge pits and processes for distributing it. It does green up plants with its nitrogen content, but you can imagine all the chemical uptake into the foliage.
PROPAGANDA
At the 2:47 mark, Jonathan Latham states: “…It is a perfect example of how science is used to pursue a public relations story… …(science) most prized by the public relations industry….”
Corbett’s vast range of interests appeals to me.
I get especially interested in health issues.
Watch the ‘Independent Science News’ YouTube video “What do pesticides taste like?”.
Glyphosate – It tastes like…(a variety of descriptives)
?
“strong drainus” is what I think is said which I am guessing means “the bitter taste that drips down the back of your throat”.
After listening to “Jonathan Latham on Gene Editing” I was hopeful of finding a fact based collection of scientific research (without political distortion) at his web site – Independent Science News.
https://www.independentsciencenews.org/
The first article opened, “The 9% Lie: Industrial Food and Climate Change” by Ronnie Cummins was a revelation. Upon reading the opening lines I first thought (hoped) it might be sarcasm:
“The Climate Emergency is finally getting the attention of the media and the U.S. (and world) body politic, as well as a growing number of politicians, activists and even U.S. farmers.
This great awakening has arrived just in time, given the record-breaking temperatures, violent weather, crop failures and massive waves of forced migration that are quickly becoming the norm. Global scientists have dropped their customary caution. They now warn us that we have to drastically reduce global emissions – by at least 45 percent – over the next decade. Otherwise, we’ll pass the point of no return – defined as reaching 450 ppm or more of CO2 in the atmosphere sometime between 2030 and 2050 – when our climate crisis will morph into a climate catastrophe. That’s when the melting polar ice and Arctic permafrost will trigger catastrophic sea rise, fueling deadly forest fires, climate chaos, crop failures, famine and the widespread disintegration of society as we know it.”
For scientific facts, the article references the Guardian at: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/oct/08/global-warming-must-not-exceed-15c-warns-landmark-un-report
The article is in support of the ‘Green New Deal’, the globalist sponsored mass mind manipulation. The chutzpah of this article is noteworthy, as it opens with “The Big Lie” (climate change disaster) presented as fact, followed by the ironic ‘big lie’ “that industrial agriculture is responsible for a mere 9 percent of our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions”. How clever – start with the uncontested “Big Lie”, then quibble as how to quantify parts of the lie, in support of a trade group’s aims – Organic Consumers Association. Organic, in the process of being co-opted by Big Food. https://wakeup-world.com/2018/08/23/the-corporate-takeover-of-organic-food/
James, I admire your work. You could do an episode on the propaganda in this article. Gene editing aside, Jonathan Latham, who edits the contributions to your web site? Or perhaps you should change the name to Scary Science “News”.
