I enjoyed the levity and laughs in this interview, even in spite of some of the serious topics. Then again, it can be pretty easy to laugh at how crazy the world is right now.
Yea, I like that Canadian style humor.
I liked the wide-ranging topics, but couldn’t help thinking that James had received a heads-up about the questions to be asked. That’s probably de rigeur for these things, otherwise people wouldn’t accept interviews that could blindside them, and possibly destroy credibility.
I was left a little confused when the term Indo-Pacific Region in the podcast title didn’t appear in the audio. The term used was Indo-Asian Region. There’s a huge difference in those semantics.
As a world citizen, nevermind a Canadian one, I’m aghast that the TPP and it’s ilk continue to be pushed forward. The concept of corporate-centric legal panels being able to adjudicate disputes – and if need be to countermand sovereign national laws – is absolutely frightening.
What an interesting response. For the record, I almost never receive questions in advance from any interviewer. RT was the only outlet that really did that. Before this interview, Jim asked if there was any story I wanted to discuss and I mentioned the Chinese shadow banking story. Other than that, all of the questions were out of left field for me. In fact, I said “Indo-Asian” instead of “Indo-Pacific” precisely because I was trying to remember the details of the story and place it into its greater geopolitical context on the fly. I’m glad that my extemporaneous exposition sounds pre-planned, though!
