Great interview, even if the subject matter is difficult to go through. Its a real shame to know when we had some publicly active figures that actually had a conscience that they were all snuffed out by the powers that shouldn’t be. “What those with power fear most is losing their power.” Can you imagine if MLK, JFK and his brother all stood publicly against the Vietnam War? Must be why all public figures today have their souls sucked out well before they’re put in front of a microphone.
Excellent journalism as not seen anywhere today or rarely. As mentioned, many of your listeners were too young to remember these events—JFK, LHO, RFK, MLK, and many more. I however do remember these events as I am not a young man. Seeing my father weep as he held my mother the day JFK was murdered left me confused as I didn’t believe men were supposed to cry. I had never seen a man cry before that day. I also remember them murder Lee Harvey Oswald on live tv and ran into the kitchen to report this to my mother. It was a hard day for everyone. My father had purchased the book Three Days (I believe was the name) and I spent weeks reading and rereading that book at the time.
One salient point I believe is relevant is that Ramparts (which I believe is now defunct) was an openly Communist publication likely funded by Soviet front groups. Was MLK a Communist? Could that have played a role in Hoovers decision? Just openly thinking about these things. Mother Jones and Rolling Stone I believe the offspring of Ramparts and Mother Jones is again openly Communist (as is Salon and a host of others) and Rolling Stone certainly leans that way. Relevance in the eye of the examiner. Mr. Pepper says he was concerned so he moved to Cambridge to live. Well, that tells me he was a very wealthy man to be able to live in Cambridge. Again, just an observation. He didn’t move to Liverpool or Limerick but Cambridge. Remember the show Emergency? The call was “Rampart-20-20.”–wonder if there is a connection. These spooks love to leave clues and laugh at us. Again, just speculating we enter yet another war against Syria and likely Russia for our “allies” or rather ally. Boloney.

William F Pepper in the UK. He was a visiting scholar. Pepper also convened a seminar on International Human Rights at Oxford with Hugo Chavez as one of his guest speakers. Later Pepper traveled to see Chavez in Venezuela. Pepper would also do work for international clients, such as Pakistan. With Pakistan, he would try to recover stolen money from previous ministers and directly learned about the ISI sending $100,000 to the 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta in Florida.
Pepper is extremely well informed. One quote: …if you look at the whole history of the importation of cocaine from Columbia through Mena Airport in Arkansas when Clinton was Governor of Arkansas and how that was spread by gangs throughout the country and sold and what happened to the profits….

William Pepper has led an extremely full, colorful life. One example of many: Pepper was quite a baseball player, learning as a kid by playing in the Black poverty neighborhoods because white kids did not want to play. He speaks about the time he spent in Cuba playing baseball where he got to know Fidel Castro. The link to Ramparts and also some of the footage & photos in the video — I had never before seen these although I have often viewed videos and online stories of Pepper’s work. I own William Pepper’s previous two books. Finally, with this Corbett interview I had a chance to see Ramparts.
In 1972 I voted for Presidential candidate Benjamin Spock. Little did I know about the truth of the MLK assassination at that time.

Unbelievable, shocking, saddening, maddening,…
I’ve never believe the official story of JFK, RFK, 911, but somehow I have been ignorant to the MLK assassination so thanks to you and Mr. Pepper. I am now ‘woke’.
One thing I have noticed is a sort of elevation of MLK into a messiah-like figure in the American consciousness. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest men in America’s history, his message has been co-opted and whitewashed (please forgive the term) over the decades.
His immensely important work in the civil rights movement are exalted, yet his anti-war, anti-militarism and efforts concerning economic injustice, which may have caused him to be targeted for assassination, are largely omitted when his legacy is discussed in the msm.

It is bizarre about some people’s take on the Deep State.
“Exists – Not a Problem” – 5%
…or “Exists – minor problem” – 14%
Essentially, 4 out of 10 people who are aware of the Deep State, see it as no big deal.
The 35% who believe the Deep State is a “conspiracy theory” are living under a rock.
And these people drive cars at 70 mph next to me?!

I knew nothing about the assassination of MLK. My 19-year old son had previously told me that it was definitely a Government assassination. Now I know for sure it is. Excellent interview with William Pepper – really enjoyed it and learned a lot.

A few anecdotes about the Media Cover-up.

…That 1999 December trial (of course) was not covered, with very few exceptions. … Court TV’s camera stayed in the hallway with the rest of them except when Mrs. King testified or Andrew Young or Dexter [King] or somebody. They never came in and they certainly didn’t cover it live. All the other media people came and stayed in the hallway and came in at selected points and came and went. None of this was ever reported…
… There was one ABC local anchorman [Wendell Stacey] who came in, very cynical in his outlook, and he started to film for his local station. As he started to listen to the evidence he was fascinated and intrigued. He decided he was going to stay and he was going to film this thing. He was told by his producer, ‘Don’t do that. Get yourself out of there.’ He ignored that, under threat of being fired and eventually he was fired. But he tried—and he did film it—and finally got his job back, ultimately through wrongful dismissal. But it was a chastening event for him to sit there and to listen to this evidence and to realize that he was being told to suppress it. To his credit he tried to hang on.
But there was a narrow window of about 12 hours where there was some minor reporting. And then it just all went away and has never been heard of again. [A member of the audience interjects: “Page 15 of the Washington Post, five paragraphs.â€] Yeah. The New York Times did a bit of it too. But then it just disappeared and it was never again reported or commented upon.
Except wherever it was raised, critics would start attacking. None of them had ever been there [laughs] at the trial. They started attacking the Judge. They attacked the defense counsel. They attacked the jury. They attacked the King family. There were various shots of that sort to try to say that this trial was a farce, it didn’t make any sense, and made no difference anyway.

So HBO in this country and Thames Television in the U.K. sponsored a television trial called “The Trial of James Earl Ray.†The trial was prepared in 1992 and it began and was tried in 1993, the 25th anniversary of the assassination of Martin King.
The Judge was a former federal Judge, Marvin Frankel out of New York, a very tough judge. We fought all the time, particularly in chambers. Eventually we became friends. But it was very hostile during the trial.
The Prosecutor was Hickman Ewing Jr., a former U.S. attorney who had won 200 straight prosecution cases as a U.S. attorney. Some of you may know him and know the name. He was Ken Starr’s Number 2 in the Whitewater investigations for a number of months if not years.
The jury came from all over the country and very strictly adhered to were the rules, Criminal Procedure of the State of Tennessee. It was a serious trial. Even though it had no script or anything. The witnesses were not scripted in any way.
It took the jury about seven hours after that television trial to come back with a verdict of Not Guilty, James Earl Ray. You probably never heard of that. Because it was not reported anywhere and if it was it was mentioned once or twice in a couple of media entities. It was called “entertainment.†It wasn’t really serious you see. It was a form of entertainment.

An extremely engaging, courageous and passionate speaker who views MLK as a prophet in the full sense of the word if I’ve understood correctly.
“…an accredited independant journalist in Vietnam…” – Though it’s improbable that Mr Pepper would have any particularly advantageous perspective on the question, it would nonetheless be interesting to hear his opinion on Douglas Valentine’s work, particularly with regards to Daniel Ellsberg and his role during the vietnam war and in the revelation of the Pentagon Papers.
I’d also be interested to know what he thinks about the (Warburg) founding and activities of the Intstitute for Policy Studies, heavily involved in anti-war activities.
Excellent sound quality to boot. I would reiterate the comments above in saying that this is a truly rare, landmark interview with a person who possesses extremely valuable and unique perspective on the troubled times of the last half-century.

Something I have noticed in my studies of these public assassinations is the way they do it. It’s always the same! They really don’t stray from the manual. John Lennon has a similar story. You see the same “alphabet group” hiding in the shadows lurking about.

Yes, I noticed the Skyhorse site was down yesterday, but it seems to be functioning again now. The link is currently working.
Incredible that the story of and the identity of the real killer of MLK is known, I heard about the civil court case, up in Canada, especially back then, before 9/11, we had a much more interesting press. I never got to know how it ended due to then being inundated with brain cramming in college thus not having the time to keep up with the newspapers, but it’s amazing the killer is identified yet nobody seems to know?
I think the domino that would make this process fall down much faster is what group killed JFK and whom among them, which seems like RFK thought it was the CIA plain and simple, but unfortunately for all those 3 murders (and while at it, the hoax that is Chappaquiddick relating to Ted Kennedy, which is pretty much proven yet nobody knows it seems) would only get huge coverage again if JFK’s is solved and the info reaches everyone, like it used to, then Sirhan will be freed, the real killer(s) of RFK revealed and then people will be, oh wow, MLK was already solved. I’m sure black Americans know about this more than others, though, maybe not by much though.
I finally got this amazing book. It should be required reading for any citizen in the USA and also the world. Astounding!
