   It shouldn’t come as any surprise that the bulk of the protestors live with their parents. This social and political anger is, after all, largely a manifestation of the persistent economic quagmire which is the more fundamental culprit. Their inability to establish their own households is of course a consequence of their inability to secure decent work. Such disenfranchised people predictably sometimes become militant and find outlets for their (misplaced) anger, especially when encouraged by the political climate and the media.

   Hello friends.

   I know it wasn’t one of the main subjects covered in this video but on the topic of encryption and cybersecurity I would like to bring up something I found while doing my own research.

   I was looking up the new US Secretary/Defense, James Mattis, on Wikipedia and under the ‘Military Career’ subsection ‘Afghanistan War’ there’s an interesting quote from an interesting man named Nathaniel Fick regarding Mattis’ leadership. He claims to have witnessed Mattis in a fighting hole during the war talking to his marines in the middle of the night while it was freezing cold. Basically he was saying: “Look at what a great person he is!”

   A statement like that can have a profound effect on the hearts and minds of those who hear it. I imagine for some it could single-handedly convince them that Mattis really is a good person without ever considering the possibility that Nathaniel Fick is lying to help Mattis with his public image. The Wikipedia page conveniently leaves out any mention of the fact that Fick, a former Marine Captain, served as 2nd Lieutenant under Mattis during the first couple years of the Afghanistan war. And also, while the quote originally comes from a NY Times bestseller book Fick wrote called “One Bullet Away”, about his experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan, the citation on Wikipedia contributes it to a different book written by journalist Thomas E. Ricks, who’s a member of Center For a New American Security (CNAS), a defense policy think-tank which Fick was a major part of since its founding in 2007 and was CEO of from June 2009 to Nov. 2012.

   If you type both of their names into a search engine there’s actually numerous articles written throughout the last decade using Nathaniel Fick as an example of how much his troops love him.

   So what does Fick have to gain from all of this? Well, since Nov. 2012 he has been the CEO of a tech company called Endgame, Inc. (kind of creepy), described by CNAS as “a leading venture-backed provider of advanced cyber security solutions.” Make of that what you will. My guess is Endgame is looking at a favorable disposition from the defense department when they make their ‘considerations’ for granting contracts for cyber security related projects.

   Let me know what you think. I’m fairly sure that this administration will at the very least attempt to bring us under the heel of a cyber security program that supposedly exists for our safety when in reality its main goal and purpose is internet censorship. Unless of course we do something about it.

   James and James make a good point about the hate and divisiveness meme which has infected our culture, targeting our neighbors rather than “The Man”.

   In the 1960’s, there was huge divisiveness filled with large scale protests. However, the target of protests was against “The Man”.

   I think that Cellebrite has been hacked on purpose, in order to show everybody that governments will be ‘forced’ to obligate companies to cooperate, since it’s dangerous to contract anyone who doesn’t belong to the authorities to do the job.
