Voter initiatives like California’s “Adult Use of Marijuana Act†have many celebrating the legalization of the long-demonised plant. But as Ellen Brown writes in her new article, “The ‘War on Weed’ Is Winding Down – But Will Monsanto/Bayer Be the Winner?†the push toward legalization is being steered by corporate interests for potential profit, not a concern for public health.

I think we all sensed at some level that there was probably more to the mainstream media’s attitude reversal in recent years towards cannabis legalization than simple enlightened humanitarianism.
Sadly you are 100% right, we’re going to be fooled again.
Well, it was very interesting to get wind of the immense health benefits of juiced cannabis. Had never heard of them before.
I’d been associating this move towards legalization with the emergence of the e-cigarette and banana smelling marijuana e-cartridges and swirls of Twizzler flavoured e-weed winding their way through university auditoriums, public playgrounds, hair salons and high school bathrooms.
In short, a massive and widespread push towards Huxley’s Soma though I don’t recall him mentioning it would be genetically modified.
Reality always outdoes fiction…
Boredom is said to have become a societal phenomenon with the repetitive movements of the industrial era. This may be the fatal difference between widespread use of canabis in the past and its consumption today. Alleviating boredom may contribute to creating addiction. Must look into the opium dens…
But I doubt Corporate interests are at the tippy top of the priority list.
I’d wager social engineering and population control are.
BLOOMBERG NEWS & CANNABIS
In the Spring of 2016, I watched Bloomberg News do a plethora of reports on cannabis. (I rolled my eyes at some of these reports.)

Well stated n4x5, nosoapradio, James and Ellen. The medical and therapeutic benefits are known and much more can still be discovered through legitimate research. But of course, the government wants to “control, regulate and tax” as stated, and have nefarious reasons to implement a hidden agenda. Social engineering and population control as nosoapradio states. Make everything “happy” for everyone while the government strips us completely of our natural freedoms – free will, freedom of thought, free speech – you name it – these are being stripped away as we speak and dare I say will accelerate once cannabis becomes legalized.
Some of the self-proclaimed marijuana activists are being used in this effort as a form of controlled opposition that give the appearance they stand on the side of compassion, but ultimately are the main cohort by which the government is using them (knowingly or unknowingly) to garner public sympathy and support to manipulate, control and pacify society who the government deems a threat to their scheme of total population control (aka Brave New World).
Just watch a few episodes of Pot TV (aka one of the government’s controlled opposition groups) and you will see what I mean. But one example, marijuana activists advocate that all young stoners in the US vote Democrat, otherwise, a fascist government will be elected (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvuMyDiU6oU Time: 59:30-1:00:40). Fits perfectly with the mainstream media’s agenda.
In Canada, the marijuana activist at the top of the pyramid is Mark Emery (the “Prince of Potâ€), who endorsed Justin Trudeau, and who has no concerns about Trudeau’s foreign policy, among other things (Time: 3:10 – 6:40):

And Mr. Emery has no concern about Canada’s Bill C-51 (In short, referred to as the Anti-terrorism Act, 2015. The long title being, An Act to enact the Security of Canada Information Sharing Act and the Secure Air Travel Act, to amend the Criminal Code, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Act and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts), to which Mr. Emery states: “I don’t regard Bill C-51 as remotely importantâ€:

And so here you have Canada’s top marijuana activist and self-proclaimed Libertarian, having no issue with the governments draconian laws. For someone who claims that government’s primary role is to control people, his stance on Bill C-51 seems remarkably out of place.
So, who cares about our rights, freedoms and foreign policy when people like Mr. Emery are advocating for a law supposedly meant only to “remove criminal profit†(aka the largely benign growers and sellers in the black market) and “protect young people†(of course, fill in the blank as to how the government defines protecting young people):

And let’s not forget about our veterans, no doubt suffering trauma from the ravages of war. Can cannabis help veterans who are having troubles related to PTSD? Likely so as a therapy, but is there an underlying motive to “sign up” veterans into the medical marijuana system; people who have seen up close and personal how utterly futile war is and may feel lied to and betrayed by the government based on the false flag event that was 9/11. Geez, they might actually know the truth about war and hold the government responsible for their ills. Many of these vets may be viewed as (legitimate) opposition to a lying government. Not something any government wants to contend with directly or else the truth will be exposed to all that have yet to open their eyes.
Of course, there are countless counter-stories put out by the media, linking vets with suicidal tendencies. No doubt this is occurring, which is why veterans who need to heal have every right to determine whatever solution works best for them. However, The purpose of these media stories is to instill a sense of fear in the population and hope they react by thinking they can’t be trusted with a gun, right? Solution: the government needs to take them away.

And another media story promoting the idea that vets are dangerous people – “Warning: This vet is medicated for your protection†(BTW – like many others, my grandfather was a vet of WWII, seen all sorts of horrors, and was a stand-up individual and a great role model, rest his soul — not someone to be feared that’s for sure – and he had guns):

If you want to use marijuana for whatever reasons you have, growing your own or buying from the black market are the best options if you want to hold on to the few freedoms that still remain. Getting lulled into the legal system is a trap that will be difficult to escape from.
Best to all who are committed to the truth and free will.
