Garland was given a different senior post in the end. That’s interesting but I don’t see how exactly. Repubs didn’t just OK this appt, I mean as one might have expected, other political considerations overrode that at this particular time. Maybe it was just bad luck with the timing in that sense and too long after the task for which he was allegedly being “rewarded”?
