Episode 368 – The Douma Hoax: Anatomy of a False Flag

12/07/201954 Comments

As whistleblowers and documents continue to destroy the narrative surrounding the alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma, Syria, last year, it is becoming increasingly apparent that this false flag event has been exposed. This week on The Corbett Report podcast, James goes through the remarkable timeline of the Douma hoax and breaks the spell that the propagandists have sought to cast on the public.

Assad must have said We can’t have this we need to gas our folks so we keep up the presure on us.

For me this is enough to cover the whole subject.

    • scpat says:

      681099,
I’m with you. The logic of Assad gassing his own people just for kicks, at that particular time in the war with nothing to gain and everything to lose just doesn’t come close to making sense. Even the most dull observer could understand that, and yet the U.S. government and the media were/are in full gaslight mode. It is interesting though to see the narrative unraveling with the help of hard facts.

      • Mark K. P. says:

As political leaders go assad seems a fairly good guy (i.e. interested in the welfare of his own people, which is the only significant metric). It’s his psychopath opponents who have a decided tendency to destroy, or make snuff movies, just for the kicks ; ergo they seem to assume that this is also a plausible motivation for any political leader on their hit list, when it manifestly AINT. Hoisted on their own petard of sickness in the propaganda war

        • scpat says:

No “leader” of any country is a good guy. They are always in it for themselves. They don’t care about their people, only as much as they give them a vote or are satisfied enough not to overthrow them. Assad is the underdog versus the U.S. and their pals, so he may seem more like able, but he is just like all the rest.

          • manbearpig says:

Here’s part of his gracious, articulate [British] wife’s wiki bio:

“…After graduating from King’s College London, she started work as an economics analyst at Deutsche Bank Group in the hedge fund management division with clients in Europe and East Asia. In 1998, she joined the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan where she worked on a team that specialised in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. She credits her banking experience with giving her “analytical thinking” and an ability to “[understand] the business side of running a company”.

She was about to pursue a MBA at Harvard University when, on holiday at her aunt’s in Damascus in 2000, she was reacquainted with Bashar al-Assad, a family friend…” and the rest as they say…

She was in and then went out of Vogue: “In February 2011, Vogue published “A Rose in the Desert,” a flattering profile of Assad by veteran fashion writer Joan Juliet Buck.”

            a total Buck up…

“…The article was later removed from Vogue’s website without editorial comment that spring. Responding to media inquiries about the disappearance of Assad’s profile, Vogue’s editor stated that “as the terrible events of the past year and a half unfolded in Syria, it became clear that [Syria’s] priorities and values were completely at odds with those of Vogue”.

Buck has since written another article for The Daily Beast giving an extremely critical account of Assad…”

Here is Asma speaking to Christine Lagarde and the Elite about culture, peace and the power of money in Syria…:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySlT5un6Ddg

            • sherry.a says:

Manbearpig–do you believe everything you read on wiki profiles? Journalists on the ground in Syria would find your statement re Asma way out of factual reality…besides wiki…and Daily Beast (that really in my view disrupted your whole premise..an uber Establishment website) or Vogue (another Establsihment publication)..any other factual evidence?…hope we can agree that any statement anyone of us makes is often more a reflection on our own credibility than posing unsupported opinion for fact…wishing you the best…cheers…

              • manbearpig says:

So let’s see Sherry.a, what part do you take issue with? That wiki states Ms. Assad worked for banks?
Or that Ms. Buck sold out?
Or perhaps you didn’t enjoy Asma’s speech?
What was my “whole premise” again?

“…Journalists on the ground in Syria would find your statement re Asma way out of factual reality…”

Which statement is that? That she’s gracious, articulate or British?

“…we can agree that any statement anyone of us makes is often more a reflection on our own credibility…”

                Absolutely.

            • scpat says:

Wow. Her bio was very illuminating. And then her dismissal by Vogue. That really says it all. Once you are on the U.S.A hit list the media jumps in to offer its support of that agenda.

          • sherry.a says:

scpat..I think we each and ALL need to be very careful about making these blanket unsubstantiated statements about any person/circumstance…do you have evidence to back up your broad statement: “Leaders are always in it for themselves. They (Assad) don’t care about their people, only as much as they give them a vote or are satisfied not to overthrow them’?? As a former Iranian diplomat I do agree that all govts…lie but cannot accept your unsupported statement (stated as a ‘fact)…Thank you.

            • scpat says:

              sherry.a,
You don’t have to accept my comment as fact. It is my opinion, and that’s fine. I would say though that my comment is rooted in the reality of ‘what is.’ The very nature of government itself is about ruling over otherwise free people and extorting money from them to continue ruling over them. That makes any Head of State and those who support them, ‘in it for themselves’. That is the basic concept. You can have your own opinion of whether you think ruling over others is right or wrong, but that is the true nature of affairs in any government.

          • Mark K. P. says:

scpat, I think your confusing western leaders, countries for the whole. Western leaders are uniformly scum because they uniformly serve financial interests which are consciously inimical to the populations/nations they purport to represent.
Leadership in the rest of the world is quite varied and very different. Self interest and national loyalty usually go hand-in-hand, they are not mutually exclusive. Except in the west, where vermin and pedophiles are systematically promoted to leadership positions by the financiers they agree to serve.

Some British pos famously stated that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. What he didn’t dare say, because the British are so narcissistic, is that power corrupts Britishmen, etc., not everyone else by any means.
I think its called transference, and its folly.

          • wylie1 says:

It would seem that Assad is NOT like “all the rest” in at least some aspect or the Khazarian mafia / Israeli misleadership and their minions in the “West” beholden to their International Banking Cartel, would not be badmouthing and trying to oust Assad… much the same as the Marxists are bad mouthing and trying to oust Trump.

To read between those lines, Trump is making Israel great again [ref. StateOfTheNation.co] while under cover of constant attack from the Marxists/Globalists who are also minions of the same International Banking Cartel.

The right hand and left hand work in concert while the minions of same are mostly clueless to those left and right fingers, in a scheming fashion held in front of that evil face, tapping upon each other.

It would seem the real question here is WHY do they want to oust Assad? Quite some time ago, long before this supposed gas attack, I read what I thought to be a good article as to the why. Wish I could recall it. Anyway it seems Assad not on board with what the Israel leadership desires. …And you can see what happened to many a “leader” when they are not on board with what the usa desired. Time will tell how far Trump is willing to bend to the desires of Israeli misleadership.

            • scpat says:

              wylie1,
Assad IS like all the rest when seen from the perspective of the common man. (i.e. He rules over otherwise free people). Assad IS NOT like all the rest, as you say, when seen from the ruling establishment perspective. Syria’s unwillingness to fold presents problems for Israel and their objectives (at least in part their Oded Yinon Plan), the United States and their objectives, and others who are on board with the same agenda.

              https://mondediplo.com/outsidein/syria-democracy-documents

              As for why…
To remove an ally of Iran, therefore weakening Iran. But then why Iran? To weaken an ally of Russia and to achieve dominance over the Middle East. Why do that? To control the energy resources and create a stronger geostrategic foothold for targeting Russia and China. This is game plan of the U.S. from my view. Of course the other players helping the U.S. have their own agendas as well.

        • cooly says:

          Mark K.P.-

With respect to your opinion of Assad. And I’m expanding on scpat’s reply here.
Please consider the idea that any concessions or gifts to the population by a state leader are entirely calculated. It’s not benevolence. The idea is to keep people pacified and not a threat to one’s power. Tyrant 101, it goes back how many centuries.
One doesn’t attain power by being a good guy. Quite the contrary.

          • alexandre says:

Yes, if I may give my opinion. What cooly, scpat and manbearpig say should be well understood by now. It’s so obvious and easy to see on our own daily lives that you don’t need evidence do substantiate anything. When the bank “gave” me a negative limit, and I, unemployed, had no choice but to go into it to be able to eat, and then I ended up owing about 20.000 to the bank, and this became about 90.000 because they decided so, a lawyer friend of mine told me to forget about it. They already got their money back because they have insurance on these “loans”, then they sell your debt to some private little company which are the ones that keep calling and threatening you on the phone for ages to see if you fall for it and pay them. A bank doesn’t give anything to anyone ever and governments are pretty much worse. The cosmetic gifts they give the people from time to time are little bribes to a population that already forgot what freedom is.

Very interesting the video of the first lady talking. When she says “who we are” I wonder what she means by “we”. It’s very much like Brazil in a sense.

Assad is probably just one more corrupt elitist in power, but certainly not the “mad brute” they’re selling still – the kind of advertising they do since WWI. Incredible how they use the same system over and over, and more incredible how it continues to work.

            • alexandre says:

              Adendum;
Her (first lady Assad speech video) analogy with water is absolutely perfect. Yes, flowing water is what the planet needs urgently. Bastards governing people is the stagnant disease infected waters that stopped flowing since Neanderthal times, which creatures like her, her husband and their friends spawn from. (Is that right in English? “..spawn from”?)

Just an irresponsible comment, sorry. As you were.

And I suggest the story of Indra, who blew up Vritra, the monster that stopped the waters in the world etc. Quite à propos.

    Dear James,

Great work. Excellent sourcing and identifying those who have been following the obvious nature of the false flag event. BUT! You missed one. MoonOfAlabama reports this, the next day (2018-04-08):

“It is quite obvious that the “chemical weapon attack” is a false flag event.”

    See: https://www.moonofalabama.org/2018/04/timelines-of-gas-attacks-in-syria-follow-a-similar-scheme.html?cid=6a00d8341c640e53ef01b8d2e92338970c#comment-6a00d8341c640e53ef01b8d2e92338970c

His reasoning, to so quickly come to that conclusion, is that it follows a similar pattern to other already known chemical weapons false flags (e.g Khan Shaykun). But, he calls it straight away.

One of the things that made me rather happy about this episode is that it included so many of my regular news sources (Caitlin, Aaron, yourself, etc.) and that I had already seen almost all of the evidence you put forward. And that second reason is why I credit your work (*).

Finally, how good is Caitlin with headlines like:

“Narrative Managers Faceplant In Hilarious OPCW Scandal Spin Job”

    Its just brilliant.

So, thanks for the great episode drawing together such great sourcing and reporting.

    /Hugo

@681099: great point. It just adds to the “Syria are winning, why the hell would the do this” argument.

(*): As you say, “dont trust me, verify the material”. But, one wants to trust one’s news sources so that one doesn’t have to verify everything all the time. In this case, I’ve put in a lot of effort on following this event because I believed it to be important. Thus, I had pre-verified your sources, and that just confirms the trust that I have placed in your work.

It jumped out at me (Part Two) (more stuff in the double stuff)

More importantly, I discovered that it jumped out at much more illustrious, rigorous and perspicacious animals than myself, as early as February 18th 2019,

Namely at Whitney Webb and Vanessa Beeley who at that time co-authored a MIntpressnews piece entitled :

« As Mainstream Journalists Acknowledge Douma Attacks were « Staged », the « Humanitarian » Syria Regime-change Network Tries to Save a Sinking Ship

There is increasing desperation on the part of the « humanitarian » regime-change network to protect its influence and the power of its narratives, not just in Syria but in future conflicts”

where they point out that :

“…Many of the dissenting voices were derided as “conspiracy theorists” or ignored entirely by mainstream sources.
Yet, now that these revelations are being voiced by acceptable figures in mainstream media, those who have built their careers on promoting the White Helmets and regime change in Syria are working to discredit these new dissenting voices…. »

They quote Charles Shoebridge, a commentator for RT who describes him as « a former British army officer, Scotland Yard detective and counter terrorism intelligence officer. » (which is of questionable reassurance…) who starting February 13th, 2019 begins tweeting:

      “Charles Shoebridge@ShoebridgeC
       · Feb 13, 2019
Notable how journalists who for years were at the forefront of pushing #Syria rebel narratives and smearing those who had the courage to question them, are now belatedly coming clean eg re #Douma, fearing perhaps the truth will soon emerge and leave their reputations in tatters

1/2 Important to note that Dalati #Douma revelation likely isn’t some mea culpa, but the start of a damage limitation process by preempting perhaps imminent @OPCW report, the likely inconvenient findings of which BBC & UK govt by now almost certainly aware

A belated honesty that he appears even in his own tweet to admit he’s sat on for six months. Some might think it suspicious that the ‘honesty’ only emerges after Harkin’s report, and perhaps just before the OPCW report makes continued denial unsustainable

1/2 Important to note that Dalati #Douma revelation likely isn’t some mea culpa, but the start of a damage limitation process by preempting perhaps imminent @OPCW report, the likely inconvenient findings of which BBC & UK govt by now almost certainly aware
2/2 Dalati seems to have sat on the staging revelation for months, and BBC still isn’t reporting it. Why? In those months UK US etc have been attempting to influence the OPCW report, and BBC & UK govt likely don’t want to unnecessarily reveal findings that may still be removed. ”

James, we can all agree on the Douma Deception. The video was thoroughly discredited within the week, and as Agitprop goes, it was an amateurish stunt. But it was a false flag planted by Executive Order, and the Tomahawk salvos were spat into Syria. That too was a ineffective stunt. Mission accomplished.

I now watch all of your feed, where before I was content to cherry pick. You are one of the better media analysts I have encountered, and I am very pleased you are finally targeting Bellingcat. Don’t stop. I see Caitlin Johnstone described that gang as a “Circle Jerk”. Perhaps, but when I read about Bellingcat’s founder, I think “auto-fellatio” more accurate.

Might I also prod you to consider working toward something in-depth on NATO’s preparations for BARBAROSSA 2.0? Cheers.

      DEFINITION
Schadenfreude“the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another.”
DERIVATION: Schadenfreude is borrowed from German; it is a compound of Schaden, “damage, harm”, and Freude, “joy”.

James Corbett uses this word repeatedly towards the last half of the video.

An interesting article discussing the word “Schadenfreude”, which even explores descriptions in other cultures (e.g “The Japanese have a saying: “The misfortunes of others taste like honey.” The French speak of joie maligne, a diabolical delight in other people’s suffering. The Danish talk of skadefryd, and the Dutch of leedvermaak. 6. alexandre says:

I don’t understand. If I’m the king and I have at my disposal every terrorist group I can imagine – many styles of terrorism, from cutting heads to presenting the news – if I wanted a pretext to invade a country, I just call Hassan Iz-Al-Din on the phone and say “Listen, Al, I got a job next week. You know that village near Hrayeq? Well, I need you to wipe the place out with a chlorine thing that we’re gonna send to you. Frank will call you later with the details, ok?” “Yes, master!”, says Al. Then it happens and when the “investigators” go there to “find out what happened” they would find everything they need to report “yes, it happened and Assad is a bastard”. Then you put your CEO on TV with the usual “My fellow Americans” bullshit and go bomb the shit out of them without any problems. Full support from everybody. So why this amateurish mock up event full of holes, easily shown to be fake and then the leaks and aaalllll the problems, scandals, exposures, reports and pains in the asses? Why? It’s like Sandy Hook and everything else. I don’t get it. You’d have real bodies, dead from real gas, every horrific picture of children you could think of, real evidence, reports, testimonies etc. I’m sure the quadrillions “missing” could pay for a really good production company, with good writers, directors, photographers, gas providers etc, and Al would be more than happy to be able to have his fun with his gang in Douma for the weekend. So maybe this amateur thing is on purpose, with some purpose. Fun? Job creation (for crisis companies, conspiracy theorists, Wikileaks etc)? Boredom? Creative expression? Maybe they are sensitive and don’t want to kill people for real? What the F…? They can incinerate children in WACO or wash Palestine with phosphorus every other week, but can’t produce anything in Douma better than this? I really don’t understand. If it is to expose the US as a fake terror producer, to bring it down etc, then it would make at least some sense. It’s just weird.

    • alexandre says:

To further show how confused I am, I’m looking at maps and Douma seems to be in Lebanon, not Syria. But on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douma_chemical_attack)
it shows Douma where Damascus is. How about that…hmmm. Closing up on the map you see a place called Bab Touma, but no Douma. So if Assad, the animal, attacked Lebanon, Lebanon should get pissed and bomb Syria, no?

How is my geopolitics going, fellers?

    • a822 says:

can’t stress the king’s involvement too much in that kind of operation I guess, it’s gotta look like it’s coming from the rebels and remain credible hence the makeshift aspect of it, fireworks is the phase where the US come in, and there also, it can’t be too walkyrian cos you gotta extend things, make the conflict last, clear cut crushing victories is more the stuff of hollywood but on the ground it’s the duration of the war that matters most.

A Newsweek journalist has resigned after the publication reportedly suppressed his story about the ever-growing OPCW scandal…

…“Yesterday I resigned from Newsweek after my attempts to publish newsworthy revelations about the leaked OPCW letter were refused for no valid reason,” journalist Tareq Haddad reported today via Twitter.

“I have collected evidence of how they suppressed the story in addition to evidence from another case where info inconvenient to US government was removed, though it was factually correct,” Haddad said. “I plan on publishing these details in full shortly. However, after asking my editors for comment, as is journalistic practice, I received an email reminding me of confidentiality clauses in my contract. I.e. I was threatened with legal action.”

“I could have kept silent and kept my job, but I would not have been able to continue with a clean conscience,” Haddad said. “I will have some instability now but the truth is more important.”

This is the first direct insider report we’re getting on the mass media’s conspiracy of silence on the OPCW scandal…
…There is no logical reason to assume that Haddad is the only one encountering such roadblocks from mass media editors; he’s just the only one going public about it….

A star (of the quasi alt media) is born…?

“I’m sure the character attacks will follow soon but thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support so far. I’m currently working on the piece and hope to have it ready in the next few days. Stay tuned.”

      stay tuned.

I guess up ’til now Tareq Haddad considered that Newsweek did not engage in censorship and published enlightened “information”…

In the meantime, it would appear that Whitney Webb and Vanessa Beeley were right all the way back in February of this year…this OPCW story will be making or breaking journalistic reputations…

Thank you for sharing Caitlin’s article, which I came in here to do. You can also see and retweet Tareq Haddad’s tweets, which, I understand is how he announced his situation, beginning with:

Surprisingly that it isn’t mentioned what actually marked the very first sign of the chemical weapons False Flag to come.

And that was the statement by then “AngloZionist War, Inc” puppet Obama in 2012 that “if Assad used chemical weapons, a red line would be crossed that would then trigger a military US response”.
This was the final setting of the False Flag stage, the proxy-terrorists were already in place to put the plan into action.
We are actually supposed to believe that Assad is such a complete idiotic and incompetent moron that he would actually start using those weapons just weeks after this “red line” was drawn in the sand.
Not only is Assad supposed to be an idiot, so are all of us for having to believe this nonsense.

Reminds me once again of that Bibi Netanyahu spewing his “intelligence” nonsense as if he’s talking to a class of 8-year olds. Drawing his cartoonish bombs and showing us his racks full of DVDs (assuming that is what these props were supposed to represent?) gathered by his Mossad.

And it’s not like they haven’t done this before.
These AngloZionists have waged their wars on nothing but lies, deceit and the relentless propaganda that goes with it.

    • Mintaka says:

I’m going to put one of the above lines in bold, as I think it’s the crucial point of the whole comment.

𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒐𝒕, 𝒔𝒐 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 (𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚: 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈) 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆.

Why do we allow ourselves to be treated like children by this propaganda?

    • Mintaka says:

We’ve seen this kind of stage-setting and setting of the narrative before of course with the nine11 false flag.
Then we kept hearing in the months leading up to the event how there was intelligence that an attack by Islamist extremists was imminent.
And just as “predicted”, the attack took place which was then promptly (within the hour) blamed on said Islamist extremists.
The pre-event “intelligence” (jeez, I wonder where that came from) already got everyone looking in the wrong direction. It went from Afghanistan to Irak and now to the Saudi patsies.
All the while omitting the 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍 culprits / masterminds.

  9. Drazen says:

If people are not prepared to face the lies they tell themselves, then they’re not really going to care about the lies that others tell them either. So long as the consequences of those lies don’t affect them directly in any unpleasant way.

What sort of lies do people tell themselves?

“Government is there to protect and serve me.”

Would be great indeed if people raised their awareness towards this way of initiating wars, and started fact checking what’s presented to them on the basis that there might be false flag involved. PETER HITCHENS reveals fresh evidence that UN watchdog suppressed report casting doubt on Assad gas attack.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that a senior official at the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) demanded the ‘removal of all traces’ of a document which undermined claims that gas cylinders had been dropped from the air – a key element of the ‘evidence’ that the Syrian regime was responsible.

The Grayzone reports that Henderson told the UN Security Council session that his Fact Finding Mission (FFM) team “had serious misgivings that a chemical attack had occurred.” Henderson also told the UN Security Council that the OPCW had rejected the FFM scientific research, dismissed the entire team, and produce a report that completely contradicted the team’s initial findings. Henderson told the council he doesn’t consider himself a whistleblower and felt the UN Security Council session was a “legitimate and appropriate forum to explain again these concerns.”

Despite Henderson’s damning testimony, critics have noted that the UN Security Council meeting on the FFM to Douma was organized by Russia. However, The Grayzone notes that Russia’s UN representative claimed they had invited the the OPCW director-general and representatives of the organization’s Technical Secretariat to the event but neither organization attended.

Facing accusations that it issued a doctored report alleging a chemical attack in Syria, the OPCW has released an inquiry attacking two whistleblowers as rogue actors.
Leaked documents obtained by The Grayzone reveal serious distortions in the OPCW inquiry as well as a campaign of intimidation against internal dissenters….
