    Congrats Fire!

I also thought your entry was the best: Short but effective and just slightly impossible (many of the entries were all too possible and thus lost on the funny points, imho).
Some entries also were practically complete articles that make me wonder what professions some Corbetteers have…

PS: Now I know what Santa makes *after* Christmas: He dons a fake beard and peddles DVDs from a well-known fake news portal!
    😉

The winner was a great pick! Excellent headline.

    • john.o says:

ditto! well-earned, fire! the very notion of auditing such perfidy in unchecked power is now officially ridiculous.

    • john.o says:

scratch that, I think we can stop worrying about the audit altogether:
      https://www.upi.com/Report-North-Korea-soldier-found-to-have-anthrax-antibodies/7791514299323/

that’s what happened the last audit, an anthrax scare and a war, so it looks like they have this thing under control

Pentagon Audit Team Dead From Iran/North Korea Anthrax Strain

      • calibrator says:

Yeah, read that in a different article, too.

With so few media corporations happily spreading these “absolutely true and not to be doubted info” (just like the info from Colin back in the day) they will reach a large part of the public and congress will dutifully agree to more sanctions – and perhaps even a war with China (because China wouldn’t allow a war on their shore against NK).

        However it turns out…

In 30 years they will ask – just like after WW2:

“And what have YOU done to prevent it?”

(Thank GOD I’ll be dead by then anyway…)

      (Full Article/ timeline 2018)

PENTAGON AUDIT STYMIED AS TERRORISTS REFUSE TO ISSUE RECEIPTS

(Washington AP) A new, shady terrorist group known as OSIRIS (Organization of Strategic Islamic Republics and Insurgent Services), whose presence had long been monitored by US intelligence authorities, on Thursday claimed to have emerged as the sole fiduciary representative for a myriad of undisclosed beneficiaries of the Pentagon’s largesse. As the umbrella organization for these groups, some of which, such as ISIS or Al Qaeda, have become well-known household names, OSIRIS declared a blanket refusal to issue receipts for all funding, past or present, in the face of the ongoing Pentagon audit. Its spokesperson Emin Su Perfidi said its non-compliance with the US audit would take effect immediately. He adamantly stated that the terms of his organization’s refusal were non-negotiable, although he hinted that the issue of receipts for future funding might still be an option on the table depending on the level of increased fiscal expenditure for worldwide US terrorist-related activities. The State Department’s response was swift and unequivocal. “We will never bow to high-handed terrorist refusals. This unjustifiable action on the part of a rogue NGO has unlawfully denied us our rightful receipts”, said Secretary Rex Tillerson. On Friday, UN US-ambassador Nikki Haley put OSIRIS on call, adding, “Arrogance will be punished. Lack of gratitude will be noted. 2018, beware.”

So, zombies didn’t get you? Dammit, lost the pool.

        • wingsuitfreak says:

Have been forced to use a different internet provider, still a pre-paid as I never let corporations get into my BIZNESS, so I’ve not been on the net very much lately. Still not on much now as I am in the final few months of a project, but hopefully I will be back here extolling the finer points of not much. As for zombies getting me, I always do my cardio to prevent that one! Jim from fluorida

      • manbearpig says:

Hey there! I woulda thought beards would slow ya down at a certain altitude but… perhaps they offer unexpected buoyancy or unusual navigational qualities…? The grecian formula… is for… visibility?… during …precipitous low-pressure weather… systems…?

Anyhow good to have ya back as in fact I had several questions about not much!

        • wingsuitfreak says:

Good to hear from you as well, oh savior of the earth and creator of the internet (or is it the other way around?). Visibility…. yeah, that’s it. It has nothing to do with the young, athletic women who cause me to keep my non-existent (at least around them) beer gut tucked in. Still not really back as my internet is not straightened out yet. So many telecom companies I won’t use ever again! The latest being T-Mobile. Maybe my solo boycott won’t have an impact, but I still refuse to give my money to criminals. And no, that doesn’t exclude the legal mafias. Oh well, off to Wal-Mart (see how low I’ve sunk) to buy my StraightTalk minutes. At least it works and they have yet to lie to me. This is an improvement over Cingular, Verizon, Net10, Tracfone, and now T-Mobile!

          • manbearpig says:

sometimes straightTalk’s the best you can do. In fact, Straighttalk’s pretty damn good and gets better with age…
don’t worry, dude. I’m sure they’ve got a contract that nearly penalizes Walmart. keep talkin’ man! just keep talkin’!

            I keep solo-boycottin’ israeli stuff…

            • wingsuitfreak says:

Oh well, not even straighttalk for me right now. When I went to pay for my wireless, I was told my card didn’t work. Someone had gotten my info and wiped me out. Luckily for me, that doesn’t take too much. Oh well, now I have a new card, new problems for a little while, and no internet (excepting public) for a while! Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!! At least someone is enjoying themselves at that JetPrint Store in Johanasburg, South Africa. Oh well, I admit I’m pretty good at rolling with the punches, but the fates can really throw out a flurry of them on occassion! Jim from fluorida and master zombie killer!

              • manbearpig says:

Well it sure sucks for us Corbett addicts who look forward to reading your comments!!

It seems if base jumping doesn’t give ya a heart attack, then the telecom companies just might…

                Have you considered sophrology?

              • wingsuitfreak says:

Sophrology doesn’t seem to be in my cards. When I looked at my account, I discovered that my bank had charged me nearly 20 bucks to move my money into the hands of thieves. Words alone cannot express my feelings towards an institution which leaves no stone unturned in order to make a buck, but obviously doesn’t care about the very service they supposedly provide: security. I feel like I’m in one of those bad kung fu movies where the hero faces everyone. Really sucks that I never learned kung fu. Oh well, enough whining. Take care, Jim from fluorida.

              • manbearpig says:

What unusual anecdote would you tell someone in your situation? I’m sure a wingsuitfreak’s got some story up his sleeve or tucked in the laugh lines of his experienced eye!

              • wingsuitfreak says:

Those stories come afterwards. Right now I am in the midst of the future subject of one of those unbelievable redneck stories which always begins with “No sh&t, thar Ah wuz…”. However, I always try and look at each situation as being perfect for whatever it is that I am doing. I’m not really that good at making it true, but it does help a lot with making it better. We rednecks can survive anything though. In fact, new research indicates that after the next nuclear war, rednecks will be feasting on the cockroach survivors. Oh well, back to the non-internet world again. I shall return! Jim from fluorida and battling zombies, internet providers, and bankers! They didn’t pack a big enough lunch though! 5. manbearpig says:

    Hey Santa!

I just spent a fantastic evening watching Mike Maloney’s “From Bitcoin to Hashgraph” and I realized I wanted to thank you for your hyper-early Christmas present of Bitcoin last March ’cause it’s the gift that just keeps on giving! I mean I could lose everything in the next 10 minutes (representing some 137 dollars at this particular moment and which could very possibly occur) I would still have largely profited from your gesture (in various senses of the word “profited” and which would be nothing new coming from you).

What a glimpse of the Future!

So Baird’s trying to force Humans to become fair and honest on a global scale through mathematical enforcement and eventually a form of cyber omniscience…

And everyone with a smartphone can be A FULL NODE! I’ve always dreamt of being a full node! Or at least of being considered as being a full node!

Is Baird’s weakness his patent? What will enforce the fairness, impartiality and honesty of his patent? I mean, what powerful entity’s going to come out with its own version of Hashgraph?

Has Hashgraph launched a new sort of arms race?

“Interesting times indeed”… a blessing? or a Chinese curse?

Anyhow, thanks again! Now time for more egg nog!

p.s. Well, Congrats Fire. I guess. But maybe if we had some mathematical proofing to guarantee the impartiality of this voting…I mean… would seem more legit, anyway…

    • manbearpig says:

And thanks to the article I linked this morning on the bitcoin page I’ve learnt an official term for the type of Achilles heel I was attempting to describe some time back when expressing my skepticism concerning Bitcoin (and Bill Gates et al): a “Sybil attack”.

And apparently, this Sybil attack problem is perhaps not entirely resolved for Hashgraph as a public ledger, according to the article. (and as Mkey pointed out) Until proof of the contrary and the Swirlds people seem very confident of this contrary…

      ?

    • Corbett says:

No problem, manbearpig. And I will happily take the bitcoin back if you’re not interested in it! Merry Christmas!

      • manbearpig says:

“I will happily take the bitcoin back if you’re not interested in it!”

Ok. I deserve that. I did contribute to making bitcoin purely speculative and thus possibly obsolete by not using it.

which, I guess, is akin to saying I’ve helped keep Humanity enslaved.

and the double whammy is all my students who bought bitoin after we spoke about it “in class” are gonna be pissed off at me too.

oy vay. the life of a manbearpig…huffing and puffing away in a hamster wheel…just tryin’ to keep up…

Hey! Ok! I know! I’ll buy something with it today! 8-))

        Merry Christmas!

    • scpat says:

      Manbearpig,

I also watched Maloney’s production the other day and it was well made. I’m no programmer, but I’m skeptical of Hasgraph because it is not open-source. Swirlds is a private company looking to sell their product to the highest bidder rather than have the information be open to public scutiny and use. The Hashgraph technology looks incredibly impressive but it seems Swirlds has their own motives other than using their technology for human freedom.

      • manbearpig says:

Yup. (will get back to you at greater length after the hamster wheel. (if I can think of something pertinent to add…uh, do you enjoy doggerel rhyme?))

June 22, 2010 “The Meaning of Austerity” would be a great re-release, but for this year the Pencil video.
“What’s you gender?” “Pencil sometimes Math” <– great moments from Jr. Hi.
Christmas sure takes on a whole new meaning of peer pressure when one has children =)

  7. Corbett says:

As a reminder for those making suggestions for featured videos: the point would be to feature videos from 2017.

    • calibrator says:

As for video suggestions: This is quite a difficult decision for this special kind of “Best Of” as there were many brilliant videos this year!

I will however disqualify the many visualizations of old classics like the still shocking(!) “Requiem for the Suicided” series (some of the victims were unknown to me) and try to only cover original works of 2017.

My obvious choice would be “WHY BIG OIL…” — but I won’t suggest it! 😉

I think that it is by far the best video you put out this year as you paint a complete, well-reasoned picture of the given situation – presented pretty much flawlessly. Broc West has again to be applauded, too.
However, clocking in at just under two hours this is simply too big a video for this particular request, especially as it comes with a fleet of surrounding videos that go into further detail. I needed *days* to digest all of this and therefore I can’t recommend it for “casual viewing”.

So here’s my Top 5 of 2017 (besides WHY BIG OIL):

      1) Episode 315 – Meet Goldman Sachs, the Vampire Squid
Because: The former (and future!)G-S-employees are everywhere! 😉

      2) Episode 317 – The Truth About Glass-Steagall
Because: An eminently important “money” piece!

      3) Episode 313 – Demonetization and You
Because: It will become more and more important, not less!

      4) Orwell’s Nightmare: Temperature Adjustments and Climate Change
      or
UN Warning: Just 3 YEARS Left to Save the Earth!
Because: Good ammunition for climate change debates

      5) Obama: A Legacy of Ashes (video)
Because: Perhaps one of the most important pieces for those gullible (US) voters that still believe that they have a choice and reason for hope. Well, hope is the bread of the poor…

      Runner Ups:

      – Interview 1272 – William Pepper Reveals Who Really Killed MLK
Because: An important piece because W. Pepper will perhaps not be around much longer. When he is gone, the MLK jr. case will be pretty much closed…

      – 5 People You Won’t Believe Worked For the CIA
Because: A timeless question since 1948 – also many classy comments!

      – The Weaponization of Information in the War of Terror
Because: State-sponsored terrorism never goes out of fashion

      – Why Do You Eat Bacon and Eggs?
Because: One of the best examples of the shady workings of Ed Bernays

      – Points For “Good Behaviour”: Canadian Government Introduces the Creepiest App Ever
Because: A good example of what the technocrats dream about: Gamification of the populace

As far as I can see there was no new entry in your series “Film, Literature and the New World Order”. But you re-released “The Library of Babel” from 2015 which is one of the best, IMHO.

I hope you continue with this series – and perhaps I may suggest a (bad) movie you may not have seen: “People I Know” with Al Pacino
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274711/?ref_=nv_sr_1
It was a massive flop but it only got very limited release in the US.
Perhaps the back story of the movie was a bit too controversial, perhaps it showed a bit too much of the real workings (while being a pretty bad thriller and thus not being able to rake the cash in).
While it is not an obvious candidate for a NWO series I can’t help but perceive it as a very thoughtful movie that somehow is able to illustrate the elements of the NWO that is actually in place.

Thanks again for this fruitful year!

  8. manbearpig says:

Maybe “Your Children are Being Programmed” would be a seasonal suggestion.
Or maybe just a beard hair too late…
    …story of my life…

  9. Mielia says:

Okay, regarding 2017 I narrowed it down to:
It Begins: Canadian Gov Rolls Out Points To Reward Good Citizens
A Brief History of Fake News
The Library of Babel – FLNWO #27
Why Do You Eat Bacon and Eggs?
Interview 1310 – Ernest Hancock on Pirates Without Borders
5 Unbelievably Stupid Ideas Governments Actually Tried

And out of these I choose..:
The Library of Babel – FLNWO #27

    Though
It Begins: Canadian Gov Rolls Out Points To Reward Good Citizens
    could also have been it.

Though… this was darkly comic and also a fine release. MLK interview is top for now.

        • mkey says:

These short teaser videos have the great potential of reaching the dull masses and as such I find them more valuable than in depth analysis, no matter how dominant the analysis over a specific subject is.

          • UKJC says:

Hi mkey, sadly my personal kith and kin found it so discordant i was told to “get a life”. I’ve left facebook as a result. I’m left wondering how to reach out… Dr. Pepper referenced the segregation of dissident groups at the end of the MLK interview: A common theme and something we need solutions for: I’m thinking not family social, but work-placed intervention. Thoughts welcomed 🙂

            • mkey says:

I’m hitting a resounding zero on this one, buddy. I have literally no one on this end of the line whom with I could converse about these subjects or impart information which can be found on this site by the truckload for anyone’s free perusal.

Also, I’m 100% certain that these rusty minds can’t be jolted into consciousness by force, as my relations to several family members proved rigidly and beyond any reasonable doubt. Mind you, I’m talking about easy to understand concepts, not any MLK claptrap lol. Like “don’t slam the damn window for no goddamn reason” or “dress accordingly to the weather conditions (not even forecast, but look out of the window type of affair)” or “get a job (or get self employed) and stop being a sponge” etc. How the hell could I explain why the faked airstrikes or terrorist attacks are important to such minds?

I don’t mean to sound like an asshole, but nonthinking dolts are bountiful and they either keep staring at some screen or down the end of the bottle or acting as furniture at the bookmakers. Even people whom are not unthinking dolts take much of the parroted bullshit at face value. People don’t need to be explained any of this stuff, but instead be taught how to objectively look at themselves, how to see the (ample) room for self improvement and how to improve oneself and upgrade into a thinking human being. Then, if they manage to find their way toward any of this good, if not, well they at least wouldn’t be unthinking dolts anymore. Something I’d consider an upgrade.

A business idea spun from this: “Free thought lessons” DVDs, an hour worth of content on each, burn them and sell by the truckload … rrriiiiiight.

              • UKJC says:

It’s 2018 Corbetteers – time (at last?) to feedback and support this thread with some solutions?…

mkey, appears that it’s a lonely world for both of us and I’m sure many Corbetteers feel the same but – we’re talking 🙂

Forgive this next question as I suspect we are of two minds but… WRT “MLK claptrap lol” what do you mean? I haven’t read Dr. Pepper’s book so probably should invest but be great to understand your doubts. (if I read that right).

Yes “nonthinking dolts” or sheeple (~k600 results on Bing!) is not going to win us any favours but accept your concern. Looking at themselves I like, i.e. “When did you last question the news?”

“Free thought lessons” are not free if sold. I’m thinking the majority of people in neo-liberal/con states are worrying about food on the plate and school uniforms more than DVD’s on esoteric subjects like the FED & MLK. Those in Yemen and Palestine may have even more basic concerns of course.

Have I answered my own questions?

Oh Bollocks, as we say in the UK

              • mkey says:

I didn’t mean any insult with the “claptrap” comment, it’s just what I assume my interlocutors would make of it, would I venture to discuss it with anyone in my near proximity. The finest data to the uninterested mind is not interesting at all. Such research surely isn’t claptrap in my view.

“Free thought lessons” – free refers to thought, not lessons lol. In other words, “Lessons in free thought;” this stuff would definitively not consist of MLK or Iran or 9/11 analysis. It would be more on the line of what you stated there, asking something like “when was it the last time you heard something on the news that didn’t sound right” or “do you think you can change anything by voting and why” or “are you pleased how your kids are doing at the school and how involved are you with their education and why” (if applicable;) basically, a bunch of down to earth type of stuff. Just to find ones bearings. I’d assume, the first thing before I started to build a house would be to level the construction yard and nicely square it. Maybe you don’t know where would a journey like that take you, but I’m pretty sure you’d want to start all nice leveled and squared.

You are definitively right that people around the globe live in varying conditions, but when I see the utter nonsense people spend their funds on, they could allow themselves a token investment into their education.

The Pentagon announced it will be supplying weapons to a moderate alternative to OSIRIS in the region: Secure Established Terra Hegemonic, or SETH.

“We think in the long run, SETH will win over OSIRIS, and the banks are investing in SETH more heavily over the long haul, but the banks continue to fund both SETH and OSIRIS, and we will continue to support both against Iran and Russia,” said Tillerson. “We think OSIRIS will now be forced to issue receipts pro-forma and that contributes to stability in the region. Let’s face it, this SETH-OSIRIS conflict has been going on for millennia. We can’t be the world’s police force, but we can support the best alternatives to terror and locally controlled resources in the region.”
